No doubt Nige-dull Pearson has an £9M offer in the fax machine as we speak though..... I mean if they are happy to pay £5M for Mills...........
Keane was mad for letting him go, but they did get £500k for him and they have a 10% sell on clause, so they might at least end up with seven figures out of the deal.
I can't see him getting anywhere near the Spurs starting eleven, to be honest I'm surprised a top four team is showing such a degree of interest. I'm thinking it might be a case of one of the bigger PL teams paying out quite a bit for him( 6 or 7 million) and then loaning him out straight away. Maybe a lower PL side or a decent Championship side. If so many PL sides sent scouts to look at a goal scorer and said goal scorer bags five interest is hardly going to cool off is it? He looks bound for a PL club IMO.
Or Ipswich knew he'd get a sackload in L1 but wouldn't cut it in the Championship. Until he plays higher up we won't know, which when you look at the amount of 20+ goal a season strikers in L1 go on to play successfully in the PL, or even in the Championship makes the fee a huge gamble. If Ipswich end up being proved right then you can't really say about the lost fee either, if he'd stayed with them he wouldn't have been playing in L1 to get the goals/attention to earn the same fee. And you're not looking at what he's done this season to support it, the question was why hadn't someone bid £4M for him before now, so you're talking about in previous transfer windows, which means you've got a player released by Ipswich who went on to have a good season in L1.
elliot got injured about 4 games before the end of the season if memory serves me correct, not taking anything away from him, his goals per game from the wing was amazing, but it wasnt like he was on course for 50 like rhodes appears to be.
I'm with you on that! I think Koren is one of our best signings. A top international captain for a country that appear alot at competitions, not one who captains somewhere like Gabon (cough cough - cousin). Such a coup! He was west broms best player for years!!!
i think he must have got 2, pretty confident he got 29 in all competitions..wasnt he joint in the league with deano, but won the in all competitons battle?
He scored 27 in 36 games in the league, 2 in 4 games in cup competitions and 1 in 7 games for Northern Ireland.
Rhodes will go to a team in the bottomhalf of the prem, as will sharp. What we need to do is find these players before they gone on a stellar run (like we did with stewart).
Just keep taking bargains from our feeder club. Stewart: bargain Chester: bargain Evans: bargain Dudgeon: bargain Manucho.................. cough cough Although being fair to Manucho the win at Fulham was one of my favourite Tiger moments, our supporters were amazing that night.
hang on fellas... Our own Aaron Mclean played in L1 a lot whilst scoring 86 goals in 148 matches.. and in the npc he has got 7 in 46 for us.. now I'm not going to get dragged into the "we love him for his workrate and he's good at winning headers even though he's short..' stuff.. fact is there's no guarantee Rhodes will net bags of goals in the npc, nevermind the PL... look at Beckford.. world beater one moment.. flopped at Everton.
I think Beckford's a ****er, but it's a bit harsh to call him a flop at Everton, he scored 8 in 32, mainly coming on from the bench. It's a better record than Cousin, King or Geo had for us.
Scoots, has Brady been offered and signed a new contract at United? When you mentioned about them wanting us to commit to buy him in the Summer, I then heard somewhere that he was back in Manchester early last week to sort out a new contract. Don't understand what the situation is.
Man United didn't want him leaving in the summer for just academy compensation, so they were looking for someone to buy him in January. As his form's been a bit iffy and we only wanted to extend his loan, he went back to United to extend his contract to allow an extended loan with us, so things could be reviewed in the summer. He's ours in the summer if we want him.
Hopefully, someone has had a word with him about how precarious his situation is and we should see an improvement in his application. City should grasp this nettle and work hard on him, surely he would be worth it, the raw material is there. Lets hope he's not one of those who needs a she load of bad experiences in order to finally learn what he should be doing.
In the league he was joint with Windass and Pawel Abbott, but won the golden boot because he'd played less games than they had.
I don't get this Rhodes is too young for the Prem ****. Throw him in now and he'll learn if he's good enough, which I think he is. Not very often a lower league player catches the eye like this, he's got it and with the right move he could go on to do very well.
