What a dickhead. He's been playing well recently, but him ignoring Basso's calls for somebody else to kick for him was beyond forgiveable. I know most on here tend to understate knee injuries, but Hobbs' attitude today was stupid, he could've set Basso back a fair bit by that and it's not on, both on a personal level for Basso and for the good of the club. We need a new captain.
A good call. I'm not sure a Captain really means anything these days so I don't really care who it is.
Neither do I usually, but I don't think it should be somebody who risks aggravating a team mate's injury because he can't be bothered to take a goal kick.
For once TWF I agree with you. It was totally unacceptable for the BACK FOUR to ignore Basso's request. It was obvious Basso was in difficulties
I assumed he hadn't understood that Basso was in so much difficulty, otherwise surely he'd have just run back and taken it.
I didn't see this incident was this when Basso was kneeling down right at the end? Either way stripping Hobbs of the captaincy just for this would do more damage than good.
That's exactly what happened....Basso cleared the ball and hurt his knee...play continued and the trainer, who was stood right in front of me, was told to stay off the pitch by Basso. Therefore he didn't get any treatment and no one was the wiser (Hobbs included). So someone should have communicated with the back 4 and told them that Basso was struggling but no one did....hence at the end when he asked Hobbs for help kicking he didn't understand what the **** was wrong.
there seems to be a problem with communication in our squad altogether, this incident, hobbs and gulasci at burnley, and at least 3 times today our players collided going for the same ball, doesnt anybody use there mouth and talk??
The reason being we haven't got an English goalkeeper, so we would benefit with someone like Harper between the sticks. However, we defo looked more comfortable with Basso than we did with Gulasci.
We didn't have Tevez in goal, both Gulacsi and Basso speak perfectly good English(though Gulacsi seems to mainly whisper).
Was Basso beaten at his near post for the goal? I'll have to have another look to clarify but it looked like it to me. The goal was a catalogue of errors which was started off by Chester mis controlling a fairly routine ball which then went out for a throw in deep in our half. I fail to see how it's only Hobbs' fault about the Basso injury situation. NB knew Basso was injured a good couple of minutes before that carry on and should have got word to either Rosenior or Brady at least about goal kicks. Also does anyone seriously think Hobbs would have left Basso to take goal kicks if he knew he was crocked?
I thought it was rosenior who basso was arguing with. basso didn't want to take the kick and rosenior was shouting and gesturing for him to get on with it which basso didn't seem too keen on. We desperately need a new keeper in for Saturday. Interestingly if that had happened earlier and he had to go off who would you have fancied as a makeshift goalie? My guess... Brady, he seems to think he can do everything else. Lol
Might be more to do with the players not liking Basso. Not escusing this action, but he is generally disliked.
Never knew that. Would like to think our players would be more professional than let personal feelings affect decision making on the pitch. If true I wonder why he's not well liked?
I thought the incident with Basso and Hobbs was very strange , either Hobbs and basso can't communicate with each other , or Hobbs told Basso to take the kick himself anyway even though he wanted help Hobbs doesn't convince me as a captain , I would prefer Rosenior or McKenna but I don't think Nick wants to take the captaincy away from Hobbs Basso generally does a good job if everybody hates him
