need to improve the squad, were paper thin. the first eleven must be fooked after this christmas period. we really dont have any quality backup to keep the first eleven on there toes, or to replace when legs need resting or replacing through poor form. i think this is whats undoing us at the moment, whos the replacement for fryatt we dont have one to bring on. both our keepers are making mistakes were lacking quality here. we need 4 players in this january transfer window to freshen up, and keep the players on there toes. if not we'l limp ove rthe finish line around mid table due to knackered bodys
Very testing few weeks ahead for Barmby and the squad. Got to get things right in the transfer market, I'm getting a bit worried that Barmby's lack of experience as a manager may be highlighted by this January transfer window. Hope I'm wrong, but he's got a few weeks to pull some good signings out of the bag.
No keeper and no striker on the bench today and now Basso has picked up a knock. We definitely need to get a few in, but one of them has to be a goal scorer because in all three Christmas games a goal from City would have totally changed the compexion of the game. I think we would have been looking at 5 points minimum instead of none.
Barmby stating that he's in no rush for a striker must be a smokescreen, hasn't it? Its obvious to us and to him we need a proven goalscorer. If Billy Sharp wasn't our priority then he should be now after the last three games whatever the cost.
The trouble is we're not creating enough chances, it doesn't matter who you've got up front if you don't really create anything. I agree we need competition for Fryatt but it isn't the definitive answer. We were poor out wide today which doesn't help. It is perhaps a bit unlucky that our 3 best players in koren, Fryatt and Stewart have all hit a bad patch of form at the same time.
I disagree, and so do the 13 shots and 11 corners.. those are all chances we're just not converting them... too many passes astray, low crosses booted/headed away... we're lacking proper quality. cutting edge. whatever you wanna call it.
How many times do strikers score from corners? Most of the time you have defenders being the greater that from set pieces so should we replace or centre backs? And 13 shots? Fine, that is a fact but it is open to interpretation, who were the players shooting? I know that Fryatt didn't personally have 13 shots so he can't be the only scapegoat. Koren missed, Hobbs missed as did one or 2 others. Throwing another striker in there doesn't suddenly mean were gonna score loads.
I agree but it means we may have a hell of a better chance at doing it. How many times do we put through balls through past the back four like we used to for Campbell? We didn't do one today. Fryatt has had poor service today i agree, but he needs to get out and do more work in the channels, create more of his own like he used to.
I agree with that but I thought he was much better in that regard today. My only real complaint with Fryatt today was the fact that he dithered on the ball a bit but he was the closest to scoring with the only real chance we had today. We do need another striker for competition but we also need to be looking at the other 3 who make up our front 4. Especially if what Pearson said about Barmby wanting to play the 4321 system permanently is true.
I think the atmosphere has been much better at the KC since Nick took over. OK it went quiet when we were down but I think that is because everyone is so focused on watching the game and wanting it to come right. I would think every home support is louder when the game is going well not just ours. On the whole the crowd have been behind the players and not on their backs for every mistake like in the past.
i dont think any of the players are slacking on purpose or anything, i just think we could have alot of weary legs out there, nige was right when he left he said ive left a solid foundation , the thing is thats all we do have a foundation ie a starting eleven time to build on it barmby and add some quality depth to the squad, not knocking city in the slightest i know were a work in progress and i always thought promotion this year might be a year too soon in terms of where we are as a squad and team.
Fryatts only real chance was the one where the keeper somehow managed to parry it into the ground and over the bar. It was so unlucky. No one would be ****ing moaning if that had gone in!
Exactly, shots on target mean nothing. A trickle to the keeper is technically a shot on target. We need to look at clear chances of which there was maybe 1 yesterday which Fryatt did everything right and required the keeper to make a good save. If Fryatt had had 13 shots on target and not score then I would admit you have a point but he didn't. For those morning about Fryatt, koren had 2 or 3 poor shots, does that mean he should be replaced?
You saying we don't create chances but that's the biggest load of bollocks I've read in a while! Yesterday we created the least amount of chances we have done for a while but still Fryatt was so unlucky with the shot the keeper saved, Koren had a chance from 15 yards out bang in the centre of the goal and he hit it straight at the keeper and Evans towards the end had a decent chance but for some reason gave the ball the weakest tap possible and it ended in a scramble. Fryatts probably missed about 8 one on ones this season, Korens also missed a few. I don't think anyone is saying they're crap but just that these are chances that other teams generally put away against us and it's cost us quite a few points this season.
well for the FA Cup game on saturday i think that Messrs....Cooper - Dudgeon - Garcia - Olifinjana - Brady at the very least will start the game. Maybe also Dele and Simpson as an outside bet if they are still at the club. I agree that legs need to be rested in this game.
With the exception of Boro, where the goal came out of nowhere and was a beauty, we've been done by sloppy play at the back, both were awful mistakes by defender and keeper alike. But we're whinging about the amount of shots on goal, which mounted up way ahead of our opposions on both occassions. I'd say Derby took a leaf out of Boro's book and stiffled us well. They stopped us playing and doubled up on all our creative players knowing too well we had no plan b. Burnley were just jammy and there for the taking. Some of the chances should have been buried, but that's football. Suggestions to better out play:- 2 up front instead of one- one big to get the knock downs and help play 2 natural wingers on the flanks- whipping balls in, instead of doing all that fancy ****e Brady does. Dudgeon in for Dawson- he can whip a better ball in.
I agree we need a be striker but I don't agree with people saying Fryatt is not good enough. In the last few games we have been found it in terms of the way we play and I don't think it would matter who was up front. As team we need to be creating better quality chances. Fryatt has been indifferent for much of this season but at the same time only him and Koren have been scoring on anything like a regular basis. My point is that we need to be asking questions of the wide men and the deeper midfielders. What I don't agree with is Fryatt taking the blame for the team having 13 shots and not scoring when he only had 1 or 2 of those 13.
