Has anyone actually bothered to watch the interview instead of reading what the Sun/Metro etc write? He talks about Carroll a bit, but in no way expresses an interest in bringing him back to Newcastle, just more rubbish being printed by the papers to rile fans.

I don't read newspapers, I just over-react to them on here <ok>

Would love to have him back and I think we could help him recapture his form. Still a first class striker for me, and those saying it means hoofball, clearly haven't watched the lad very much. Its actually hoofball he struggles with but what most of his teammates resort to. Its one of the reasons he has struggled at Liverpool. When they play the likes of Carragher immediately go back to front with 60 yard bombs. He might win his fair share in the air but it doesn't suit him. He likes it into feet and chest, where he can lay it wide or turn and run at defenders. He has a lethal left boot. When you hoof it to him, you lose the ability to win free kicks in dangerous areas. You have to go through him if the correct ball is played, and this virtually impossible to do fairly because of his size. The best example of how to use him was in the 21's where he played as part of a three with two quick forwards alongside him. They played all the football on the deck and his link up was vital to their passing game controlled by Wiltshire. I think I watched a game where Wiltshire and Walcott played with him, and despite some crazy defending, they were rampant in attack. I can't remember who we were playing, they weren't all that but it gave a snapshot of what he can do in a passing team. Wiltshire linked superbly with him as did the others. It was one of the few times I've seen us actually turn out a proper U21. The likes of Cleverley/Walcott/Wiltshire/Rodwell/Gibbs/Richards all played that night. I'm sure we even had the likes of Welbeck and Sturridge on the bench.

No way he'll end up back here because the fee would be too high, and his wages have jumped significantly.

Erm...

Does anyone think this could be mindgames now that racist Suarez is out (Tiote was going to destroy him anyway) and bigging up Carroll knowing that he is homesick. Im sure this is one of the 2 games carroll wouldnt want to play in, I can see him having a shocker

Undoubtedly. Very good tactics by Pardew. Remind Carroll he is not where he wants to be. The only ****ter is Carroll probably wants to stick it up Laurel and Hardy. But you can't just switch on form at will so I reckon he'll struggle.

Of course it is, Pardew is heaping pressure on Carroll by saying he is top class and will lead the England line one day. He knows Carroll's underperforming and his confidence is shot, this is just his killer blow.

Anyone slating Carroll here needs their heads looked at. He was sensational for us but hasn't worked in Liverpool's setup, mostly due to Dalglish's incompetence. He is a cut above Best and would Easily be our 1st/2nd choice striker.

In all seriousness, buying Carroll for £10-15 million or whatever is still a huge risk on our part. You cant just assume he would return to form for us, especially as the old team was literally built around him. I'd prefer Ba-Ben Arfa than Ba-Carroll thank you very much. Not to mention his £80,000 a week wages.

Recurring theme on here Aldridge. If you leave us you're instantly a money grabbing, useless turd who was never that good, and has already been replaced with better. Just the way it is. I think we have the worst fans in the land for accepting that players come and go as part of football.

Like Smudger said, he's not the be all and end all, I certainly wouldn't be happy to see him here on £80k per week but he's looked awesome at times for Liverpool and has been very unlucky not to have had an extra 5-6 goals this season already. £35m is a joke really but he's being wasted in Liverpool's system. It's just amazing how quickly people forget how good he was for us.

Not sure Carroll could just walk into our team and start banging in goals again. It was very much the Nolan/Carroll/Barton show, and occasionally Jose would chip in with a few crosses.

Yeah completely agree that a return wouldn't necessarily mean a return to form. For starters it would heap even more pressure on him if he's returning to the north east to show the geordie faithful that he can still be newcastle #9. He'd probably link up well with Cabaye and help nod the ball onto Ba, but the poor quality of crosses from Obertan and Jonas would mean he'd have to play on the ground far more than he's capable of. Wouldn't go amiss at corners though, can't remember the last time we scored from a corner.

I don't know if anyone's noticed but when Best's played, the majority of long balls we do end up playing go to him. Would you not prefer a mahoosive, better player there?

V Wolves I think. I can't remember the last time Cabaye took a decent corner that got past the first defender...

Agree with this massively. Think it may be because we're an emotional, soppy bunch like.

Yeah I bloody love Cabaye, got him on my shirt like, but his corners have not been the best. Only part of the game where I miss Barton. We either hit the first defender or try that stupid thing where we lob it to the edge of the box for Colo to have a punt. Just stick it in the middle and we're bound to get some goals with the height of Ba and Obertan. To be fair, Best should have definitely scored from a corner against Bolton, so we do occasionally have some good deliveries.
