I didn't go to Coventry but I gather that there was a banner acclaiming Nicky as "Judas" and I also heard cheering on the radio as he was substituted...
Some people really need to get a grip on reality.
I agree that to us, following the City IS a passion, but some need to realise that it is OUR passion and that it is not the be all and end all of a professional footballers career to play for Bristol City...
Some appear to have taken it as a personal insult that Nicky has declined to sign a new contract in the strikers graveyard that is the MIGHTY Bristol City. I hear the comment
âhe doesnât want to play for us so he shouldnât wear the shirt ever again.â
Err, perhaps someone could explain to me why the fact that he wants to try somewhere else IN THE SUMMER should preclude him from remaining what he is (which is a PROFESSIONAL), and giving his all for his current employer, UNTIL such time as he signs for another club.
To be clear,
a). Nicky's JOB is to play football,
b). he is undoubtedly our best striker
c). he is NOT from Bristol
and in case anyone hadnât noticed, WE ARE IN DIRE ****E so can someone tell me exactly why you wouldn't use your best asset (as long as we have him) to help us survive...? As far as I am concerned, DM has quite rightly stated that as long as he shows the right attitude, he will have no hesitation in selecting him to give us the best chance.
Some seem to think that this will upset Brett. Well, if he has any brains, Brett will have realised some time ago that he was most likely bought as Nickyâs replacement so he should sit tight and if the new gaffer agrees with Keith's assessment, heâll get his chance soon enough anyway. In the meantime, WE NEED TO WIN GAMES, which of course means scoring goals.
Frankly, to vilify a player who has given the club 4 years of his career simply because he wants to improve himself is a lunacy that could only happen in football. The bottom line is that for now, Nicky REMAINS A BRISTOL CITY EMPLOYEE and should therefore be treated as such and it is similarly ridiculous to critise the manager for selecting him as to NOT pick him would be damaging OUR club...
Personally, I am disappointed that NM hasnât signed again however the clock is ticking on his career and after the ****e service he has been getting for the last 4 years, I am not really surprised that he's got ****ed off with it and wants to leave and play for a team that actually DOES create chances for their forwardsâ¦.
