I don't blame Loach for last season, but like this season he was giving away a fair amount of goals which were howlers. Don't mean to offend but, you're not at the games so I can't accept that mate. We're still only 8 points off the play offs with half a season to go....if we keep putting in the performances and sort out the dodgy goals then we would already be up there....but we have 23 games to sort it out. There are quite a few teams up there who have scored more or less as many as us......but they are putting in good defensive displays not giving away cheap goals. Like I said before, if you score lots of goals then that's great but you don't need to if you can keep a clean sheet. We're doing well...Mariappa and Nosworthy are a fantastic partnership and I'm more ready to blame our mistakes at the back, even if it would help if we put away more goals.
And in the same nine games we've conceded 6 goals, 2 of them controversial penalties. EDIT: I'll grant you that two of the other four were soft, but I don't think any defensive unit can be criticised for four goals in nine games however they come.
2 pens? Thought Snodgrass' was fair but what is the other? I don't blame our defensive unit, I think they have been fantastic. But that obviously isn't enough to make up for the dodgy goals. I don't think you can just accept these howlers and make excuses for them. We're playing well so we're managing to hold our position when we should be much higher...but if we suddenly stop performing like a top 6 team then we're going to start losing places if we have to cope with bad form and howlers.
Moosey done 3 games this season , which I think for an ex pat is none too shabby will be at forest away as well! on top of that TV , Radio links and live streams does give an idea!
Yeah like I said please don't take it the wrong way...not questioning your support or anything. But I know what I've seen this season....we've been at least good for a draw every home game this season (bar West Ham) and we haven't taken our fair share of points. I'm disappointed because we deserve better, not because I'm being overly optimistic. If every game was like Blackpool and we were doing well to get these results I'd have a different opinion.....but that's not the case...we need more 3 pointers! Hopefully it'll come on Saturday...
Despite only being in my 20s I blame memory loss! The Leeds penalty was fair, it's just that the final whistle should already have been blown. The other "penalty" I had in mind was the offside decision at Middlesbrough, where you could literally have put a bus between our last man and their player. Feels as bad as a penalty.
Very error prone and i think it will cost him from potentially moving much further up in terms of a goalie. However if offered to have Scott as our keeper for the next 10 years i'd take it now.
100% agree with this, but I think the defence and Loach in particular are taking more than their fair share of the responsibility for that. The way we've been playing we should have scored more.
Yeah it does.....it hurts less because I thought we were pretty poor that game...and 1 point lost is better than the 2 we have been losing recently.
The difference this season is we have no 20 goal striker !! starting to defend better , starting to create more than we were , but a high percentage of good chances are being missed ! , this is the area I think we need to improve on the most!
Must say I agree with you too. Too often we'll dominant play when we're ahead and we don't kill the game off. Sordell has been quite wasteful this season despite being in a lot of good positions. When we had Graham it was still happening but he made up for it with what he chipped in.
The problem is that we really can't afford to bring more strikers in. We have Iwelumo, Garner, Beattie (who will hopefully be going back..), and lots of youngsters on the sidelines........ Either need to bring in a marquee striker who will bag us lots of goals.....or think about bringing in a stronger midfielder who will help us get goals.
Wasn't there today as with the family in Scotland. The only things I know about is what I read...All I will say is this debate about SL has been an ongoing subject for a long while...everybody knows where I stand,SL is a liability. By now he should be much more confident in his area, unfortunately he's more like a rabbit in the headlights.
Thing is we have talent in the ranks , we have the likes of Murray , Assambalonga , Massey , going further down , Dereece Gardner to name but a few ! Last season we overused them if you believe the SD Mantra, this season we dont seem to touch them with a barge[pole, another possibly deserving a shout Adam Thompson!,Connor Smith! We still seem unable to hit the happy medium ! That said ,I am a lot more behind SD than I was earlier! Its just whats the point of having talented youngsters if they are not going to get a look in ( Cmon Britt prove my point son you can only beat whats in front of you)
Blimey someone is writing for me as well! Loach is a clown - MM knows that he cannot take pressure and put players on him at corners and used Taylor to bomb in long throws with players around Loach. His response was to come flapping with weak punches...and then blame his defenders who clearly have no confidence it him. A half decent shot stopper does not make a good around keeper...and he acts like a Clown.
What other option did we have , who else could we have played in goal against a side that was 5th ,knowing SD`s aversion to playing youngsters! Only way Bond would have got on would be if Loachy was injured or sent off!
