Cracker ... very interesting stats, which just handily illustrate two things I think most are aware of .... first the fact that Gower has had an impact (delighted for him, happy for us). second the fact that everybody else has had minimal impact. We can't expect a 33 year old Prem newbie to go carrying our water - it's just unreasonable on him and fraught with disaster should he become injured, drop in form, etc. We should expect players like Sinclair, Dyer, Routledge, Allen etc to be making things happen. Allen had a short run of games were he pulled some strings. Sinclair has been Mr. AWOL. Dyer ... has been Dyer - fancy foot work, entertaining, minimal end product. Routledge teases us, is more direct than Sinclair or Dyer, can cross the ball, but really more of a littler here and a little there instead of a steady creative threat. From offensive corner kicks our central defenders offer minimal threat. On offensive free-kicks around the box, we couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, while shooting for goal, and again from dead-balls out wde we really don't send over much of a cross - kinda like our crossing in general. Dai, like Ivor, makes some fair comments also. Despite his post-game media-speak, BR must see what he's dealing with. I hope he can pull some players out of the hat in this transfer window, otherwise he really is going to have his coaching talents and tactical mind put to the test.
Let's get Van der Gun back - he was quite direct. (not serious, but he did head for goal) What's the Situ situation exactly? As far as I can gather we have bought him (from Lens for £250,000) but his clearance was too late. But according to Wikipedia he made no first team appearances for them. He's got no experience at all.
All the other players are doing an ok job , we just seem to have lost our identity for a bit , it will come back Yankee . I only brought the " Stats " into the equation to remind people of the contribution Gower has made , is making & probably will continue to make in the future . It just never seems to be anyone else getting flak when things go wrong , just a chosen few without substance I feel . I've never gone out of my way to brag Gower up , I'm to busy having to defend him half the time . It doesn't matter one iota to me if Gower is not respected , it does if he's disrespected though ..... I'm tired of defending him frankly . Right from the day he walked through the door , when Robinson was sitting on the fence with Leeds , Martinez couldn't get Anderson from Liverpool & Derby was going to sign the only good player we had (Bodde ) & " No one wanted to come to Swansea " Gower signed & has been a godsend to 3 different managers that play him nearly all the time during our rise . Barring Britton , Gower was & is by far my next favorite Swan so I guess I'm a little biased .
Cracker, I think most of us are pleased to acknowledge the part played by Gower to date. He has surprised many, including me, and I am delighted for him. Perhaps, understandably, the pace has caught up with him and he needs a breather. Mistakes have recently become commonplace in his game so perhaps a break will see him return refreshed whilst giving some of the wannabees their chance to impress.
Sorry Ivor , Musty kind of got me going there . There's no one that wishes Gower would sit the next game or two than me , he just looks spent the last few games & I think Buck sees that now . Time to let others have minutes , win or lose IMO .
Cheers, Scott. From your link: "The Swans have enjoyed a solid start to life in the top flight and Rodgers is keen to build on the success with further signings next month. He added: "There is some money, but not lots of money. We are not a club with millions and millions of pounds, but there will be something available." As suspected then; no huge spending spree in January.
yep if we dont spend enough money to get the players we want then we may be in trouble. you only have to look at this irish boy that was almost certain to join us and we have lost him because we never offered enough money for him, we must do better when we target players or we will be out bid at the last moment and find us struggling to get the players we need. i can see us getting the left overs if we are not more adventurous, we have just one shot at staying in the premiership and if we dont do it right then our chances are much more reduced of staying in this league.....
just heard on sky that qpr have got £20 million to spend and norwich have targeted 6 players so delilah will be making sure they have a tidy sum to spend and blackburn have given their manager a substantial amount to boost their chances of climbing the league , martinez is after an £8million player and has targeted a few more players for the second half of the season......they are all strengthening guys.......we are off to pound stretcher to try and find capable players on the cheap and you can bet if we do find one or two they will be nicked off us in the last few hours of the transfer window .. nothing changes with us in that department..
Musty- A bad case of sun stroke thats making youi think this way i reckon Buck is doing ok, there are always things that can be done better, hindsight is a wonderful thing ! he is learning the ropes in this league(though he has had experience before) and we must expect things to not always run smoothly considering the limited options we have in our squad May i take this oppourtunity to wish all jacks a very merry xmas, i shall be there tomorrow hoping for a win but its going to be a very tight game
Yes, we have our share of, shall we say, kneejerk reactors like most teams. Just like nuclear reactors, tend to blow their tops now & again.
Hell guys I'm off this forum for a few days, and all hell has been let loose, Musty you surely can't be serious about sacking Rodgers, all that I see is happening at the moment is, that Rodgers is experimenting with our style of play, away from home, and while it worked at Newcastle, it was the wrong choice for Everton, the negative Sousa style may have it's merits on occasions, but I'm not a fan of it, and I'm sure that Rodgers will see it too, that it's limited, we also have a few players off form, which includes Gower. I'm not a Gower fan, and I would say that he's the sort of player that splits fans opinions, but even I have to admit that he's been great this season, until the last few games that is, he and Monk are coming to the end of their career in my view, and will some time soon be warming our bench as bit part players, as we strengthen our Squad. Anyway let's see what today brings!............ please log in to view this image PS: I'm all for keeping 'Brenda the tea lady' for some time yet!.................
if the club dont back brendan like other clubs are doing then i can see him going anyway. he is an ambitious manager who wont be dragged down by the lack of ambition at the club, he will see what the others are doing and if he loses his targets to the others again then he wont put up with it.......there will be plenty of clubs that would snap him up at home and abroad....
The club have backed Rodgers 100% so far, and will continue to, so give it a rest Dai, and a happy new year to you too!............ please log in to view this image
