To be fair if the Mags get anywhere near £80m never mind over for Tonali then they’ve had their pants down and dry bummed them.
They can replace him twice over for that.
He’s good but not £80m+ world class type.

£80m only gets you a good prem player these days doesn't it? Only way you were getting a player of his level for less is if they haven't played in prem yet imo?

Its an extremely dangerous game the Mags are playing like. To try and potentially replace all your best players in one transfer window is a receipe for disaster. Especially when you are giving hundreds of millions to the same recruitment team that delivered one of the worst premier league windows a club has had a year ago
Fingers crossed :emoticon-0102-bigsm :emoticon-0103-cool:

Define a best player. Based on last seasons performances they don't have any :)

Just for balance the mags have appointed Ross Wilson as their DOF since last summer + they are capable of learning from their mistakes.

The plus side is that Wilson spent a fair bit at Rangers on SH!TE according to a mag I used to work with who supported both.

You just hope they sell their stars and replace with younger lads who fail to start well under a toxic environment.

Not fair on youngsters that. Hopefully they go for “ finished article” mercenaries that don’t give a toss.

Would love to see this happen (@Late goal Scorer post above) - so they can experience what we went through! I could see it happening as well - their fans will still demand “big name” signings but which player would want to play for a club like them when they see their big signings trying to leave the club? The answer = mercenaries Whereas we are now being recognised as a forward thinking club that welcomes and nurtures young talent and who won’t stand in their way once they have developed and a bigger club comes calling. I’d be very worried if I was a Newcastle fan….but I’m not so therefore it’s git funny as owt!

It’s a fair point but it’s not out of the question. Hopefully they haven’t learnt anything from last summer’s transfer window.
If they sell their 3 best players they will have to have better recruitment than we did last season. Thats on top of what they need already. Osula is set to start the season as their first choice striker

To be absolutely fair to them, Osula carries more of a threat than their other options and they are lucky he didn’t move to Eintracht last summer which was apparently close at one point.

Whether he’s able to cut it regularly as the main man remains to be seen but he’s got more chance of doing it than Woltemade or Wissa based upon last season’s evidence.
