No… just no.

The two situations aren’t comparable, in my opinion. Giles’ redemption arc came about because, despite his poor start at the club, he was still the best left-back at the club. The only other options at that time were Jacob and Furlong and we were under a transfer fee restriction. Jakirović had little choice but to play Giles, motivate him and hoped he turned it around. It’s a credit to both of them that it worked out as well as it did.

Jakirović doesn’t need Ömür to step up in pre-season. He would’ve been third choice behind Belloumi and Gelhardt on the right and behind Crooks and Gelhardt as a number 10 last season in the Championship. We’ll probably sign Gelhardt permanently but even if we don’t, we’ll sign other wingers and attacking midfielders. Ömür isn’t a bad player but the only thing we need him to do for the club is to leave.
