I love McKenna, and what he has done for our club, but i have gut feeling that he could be another Potter. Unless you're in the upper echelons of the Premier league and winning trophies (ala Pep), i think 4/5 years is about the right amount of time managers should have at one club. Things, in my opinion, then start to get stale, and freshness is needed (which is why i'm not overly disappointed that Mckenna resigned)
O'Neil wasn't my first choice, but if he can get us winning games and keeping us up, then he'll have my blessing

Simon Jordan thinks this situation is a disaster for Ipswich. Doesn’t rate him or think he’s a good fit. Told Ashton as much. And asks where is the succession planning?

Some people are neutral but it seems as though only one person thinks this appointment would be a good idea.

Press conference at 16-00 to announce the new manager.Live on Town TV.

Sensible appointment imo, got experience of what’s needed to survive in the prem and as Ashton has alluded to that’s the minimum expectation not the be all and end all, so I for one am happy to back the manager and the club.

O Neil confirmed. Not an exciting name, and maybe unambitious considering who else was reportedly in the frame, but he's kept two different clubs in the premier league and even Jordan says he went to Strasbourg and done well. So I'm prepared to think positively about it and believe he can win others over. Time to get behind him and start preparing the squad for the season.

watched the press conference and I thought he spoke well. Probably not the man many wanted, but with the World Cup on and big name managers taking a break it was a reduced pool. I’ll get behind him and we’ll see what happens. As Mark Ashton keeps saying, he still has the emails questioning his decision to appoint McKenna. We now get to talk about incoming signings, and I’m sure there’ll be a few.

I’d say the McKenna appointment is not equivalent, most people were excited by that one.

I wasn't, I was frustrated that Ashton had clearly undermined Paul Cook and although McKenna came across very well it wasn't a while until we really started to see his worth and value.

I'm slightly underwhelmed by the appointment but he's always started well in jobs which is really important for us next season. Make no mistake he's got a huge job on his hands. The current squad is no where near good enough based on last seasons performances, so he's either got to get a lot more out of our current players or we've got to sign a lot with them slotting in quickly.
