im finding it hard to keep my interest at moment, ive even stopped watching highlights, too relentless with ****e teams, interest will ramp up when the knockouts come im sure.

Yeah, I'm at that stage too. This first round is going on too long and the jeopardy of who can qualify is just sucking a bit of life out of it.

I suspect it's the time zone that's the bigger issue, it's been brilliant being able to watch games all through the morning and they've been top quality.

I think for me there's too many teams and too many stories to keep track of. I'm struggling to remember who's in each group and as 3 teams qualify what it actually means.
48 teams isn't the problem, its the amount being eliminated -a tournament is supposed to have jeopardy. Eliminating fewer than half of the teams in the first round is just causing it all to build up to a load of nothingness.
I'd favour only top 2 going through - with a second group stage of 3 teams in each - one qualifying from each group to a quarter final.

yeah think thats main issue, if a big team slips up, should bring a bit of jeaopardy and pressure on them but it doesnt really.
we could have lost to Croatia and then Ghana and still whacked Panama and probably qualify....wheres fun in that .
I do reckon Syds point about time zone is a slight issue as well though, i feel a bit detached from it, as even the 9pm kick offs go past my bedtime to be fair,
I think the combination of the kick off times being **** for Europe and the increased teams reducing the jeopardy (and making everything take too long), has made it less enjoyable for most England fans.

Not watched anything apart from the last 10 minutes of England's opener....Fifa and Uefa have both ruined all of the major cup competitions in one way or another.
I think aus and Paraguay will play out a horrifically boring game. Neither wants to be knocked out and a draw ensures both advance.
