I think people are overrating Morocco a bit too. Very average last night and in both games have faded second half.

62 shots in 2 games and out the tournament has to be a record.

Interesting Almiron was sent off for covering his mouth.
New Rules for the competition.

Player Conduct and Cards
  • Covering the Mouth: Players will be given a red card for covering their mouth with a hand, arm, or shirt during a confrontation with an opponent.
  • Protesting Referees: Any player who walks off the pitch to protest a refereeing decision will be shown a red card. If a team forces a match abandonment, they face an automatic forfeit.
Should he have been made aware?

He would have been made aware.

Probably be a muscle memory thing for someone like him who will have been doing it his whole career.

Seems a pretty stupid rule anyway, only reason I can think of after thinking about it for 1 minute is to lip read if someone is accused of abusive language which is pretty rare anyway

Yeah that's exactly why it was brought in I'm pretty sure.

By the new rules it’s an easy red card

But I think the Turkey 18 deserves at least a yellow for the way he turns appealing to the referee about it!

Yep. The only reason why you'd cover your mouth in a confrontational situation is to verbally abuse someone, whether it's swearing at them or something more serious. Either way, I agree with a red card for covering your mouth and hopefully it's brought in the PL and EFL.

Why? If he isn't saying anything worthy of a red card why cover his mouth? A good policy implemented by Collina.

Just think it’s a nonsense reason to get sent off which could completely change a game for no good footballing reason. It’s a very modern day football rule. Just get on with it. The opposition player wanted him sent off for covering his mouth not for anything he said whilst his mouth was covered.

Other changes for the Competition were:-
⏱️ Time-Wasting and Pacing Rules
  • Five-Second Countdowns: Referees will raise their hands and start a 5-second countdown for throw-ins and goal kicks. If the ball isn't in play when the time expires, possession is awarded to the opposing team.
  • 10-Second Substitutions:Players being subbed off have 10 seconds to leave the field at the nearest boundary line. If they take longer, their team plays a man down for at least one minute.
    • Injury Breaks: Any outfield player who receives medical treatment on the pitch must leave the field for one minute.
    • Hydration Breaks: Mandatory three-minute drinks breaks will occur in the 23rd minute of every half.
How many would be of use in the Championship?

So what about at the end of the game when players are chatting and always cover their mouths?
