There’s valid concerns about giving RDZ the keys to the kingdom transfer-wise. The average tenure of a PL manager is about 18 months, maybe even a little less - these guys are not incentivised to think long term in usual circumstances.
With that said, indecision and sitting on your hands in a transfer window can be as bad, if not sometimes worse, than just getting on with it. With the future of the DOF and general structure behind the manager reportedly up in the air, we have to do something. JPVH is a good player who has qualities we don’t have, is a good age, experienced in the league, and who the manager wants to work with.
We do need to sort out the pathway for young players as well of course. But I think taking stock after the summer and seeing what’s gone on with all of them, and then through the season in terms of game time and progression during loans, will be a better indicator of any progress than specifically what happens with Vuskovic - for many reasons he’s an outlier.
