I’ve always admired Gomes as a footballer he’s quality on the ball. I have no idea why he can’t seem to stick at a club. Maybe a highlight weight?
He was at Lille for a few years. Went to Marseille last summer and was loaned out to Wolves in the winter transfer window.

He’s very good on the ball but I’m not sure we’re the best club for him. He seems to suit more possession-heavy teams. We do need a midfielder who can control the tempo and keep the ball but we also need physicality and athleticism more.

Need 3 athletes in the middle who’ll win it back and keep it simple. Get talent on the flanks to score and assist middle just needs to be 3 ball winners for me

I don’t think we need three ball-winners in midfield at all times. A pure number 6 who can just anchor the midfield, remain disciplined in position and not wander forward whilst still being tidy in possession, a box-to-box midfielder similar to Slater but an upgrade in quality (keep Slater as depth) and a number 10 like Fruk. I would like a deep-lying playmaker like Gomes but I wouldn’t break the bank for one. We’d be better off signing Zambrano as that option.

if we didnt have giles, i think hed be a great signing
prob best lb in champ imo

but they are quite samey
It has been stated we want 2 credible options for each position. Both have great delivery from the left and would represent competition for the shirt that we haven't really had.

I'd say they were quite evenly matched and if we're not going to sign a clear first choice for all of our starting berths than I can see why he would be under consideration.

But we need the cash for the month end deadline

James Smails update in HDM yesterday afternoon suggested it was another club in pole for Joseph at the moment, but we weren't in a desperate rush to sell him ahead of July 1st as things stand.

I guess we're hoping we can recoup the deficit elsewhere, as much as that seems a tad optimistic at the moment.

The suggestion is that this is largely down to having to pay players large promotion bonuses as part of their contracts, including allegedly, a very large one to Omur (even though he contributed nothing to achieving it), which wouldn’t have been expected to be necessary at the beginning of last season.

Acun has been talking about needing to sell to avoid an FFP shortfall since before we got promoted, though promotion bonuses won't have helped.

I think our midfield under Jakirovic can be simplified to that because of how he uses his full backs bit like Klopp’s peak Liverpool. Midfield just kept it tidy and solid, full backs and wingers did the rest - he has noted him being an inspiration of his.

Tymon on a sensible fee, done deal for me. Giles one of the squad who deserves a shot at the Prem and think he's got a chance of doing alright, would rather spend the transfer money on CM, RB and up front as immediate priorities as Giles or Tymon I think would be solid enough challenging each other for that position next year.

Seemed ok at Dortmund, then fell foul of Ten Hag, who came across as a control freak, only a young lad, wouldnt be quick to write him off, like many, probably needs the right coach.

I think people forget just how young he is, if he’d come through the city academy we’d still be talking about sending him on loan to Scarborough.

8 goals and 5 assists for a 24 year old home grown striker who played primarily out wide, £5m is decent money.

Harewood-Bellis and Jack Rudoni are considered to be worth far more, both valued over £20m and yet contributed less across the season in terms of goal involvements.

That type of player is going to be worth a decent amount to any club that plays like we do with a strong press and counter attack.

Frankly, I think £5m is a bargain considering what the alternatives would cost. I'm not surprised there's a lot of interest in him.

Sounds good when you put it like that but it really should have been about 28 goals. I bet a good 70% of our xG over the season was at his feet.

Middlesbrough paid £4.5m for Conway in 2024. I would expect more for Joseph, if he does leave. Our fans undervalue our players sometimes.

All the chat about Tymon being a good option as he'd be quite cheap, are we sure about that?

Swansea aren't skint, he's arguably the best left back in the league and has a lengthy contract.

How much would it take to get him?

Should keep him then still got improvement in him could be anything same as other young uns.
It's great money for a player who realistically won't be near the first team next season though.

Sorts our financial issues and realistically his season last season looks like the exception rather than the rule; it's time to cash in for me.
