If you’re trying to save money I’d just get the 17e to be honest and save 200 odd. It will be night and day better in every way than what you’re used to. But see what’s what on prime day, the normal 17 will probably get discounted more than the 17e.
It seems to me that if you're buying the new top spec phones, chances are it works out cheaper to get it on a contract eg rather than buying the phone and SIM separately.

I got the Dutch version but she popped her clogs last week
The base model has a dual camera so it can take better close up photos and a better screen than the 17e. Think that’s about it.
