Sounds like you are sorted, but just to say there are Apple affiliated stores in Hull and York (entrance to Prinny Quay and near WHS in York). I've used Timpsons for I phone (*) repair before and they were good. (* family member's not mine, I'm on Android. Apple = devil's work).
I'm sick of my iPhone X and have just ordered an iPhone 13 with 256Gb through mobiles.co.uk on Vodafone with unlimited everything 5G for 25 quid a month, 199 for the handset but 15 off that with a special offer they're doing at the minute. Also went through topcashback in the hope of getting an extra 35 quid which they are supposedly doing on Vodafone contracts through mobiles.co.uk
And the operator said 40 cents more for the next three minutes. 'Apple is facing one of the toughest tests in its history after the US government filed a lawsuit accusing the tech giant of creating an illegal monopoly that cuts off competition for its iPhone.' With that in mind, get rid of the cheating xxxxx and switch to something else. I went for what was a top rated mobile camera a few years ago that was classed as a spy camera by the yanks which appealed to me at the time working undercover for MI5. That didn't work out, I could see spying wasn't for me, so I took up gambling on sport and ditched the Huawei for a Google Pixel which is fine for me.
Just as a note; I use a talkmobile £9.95 30day rolling sim which is Vodafone I think. 120gb data last I looked which is more than enough unless you don't have broadband.. My lad tethers at the MKM as he has O2 and reception is bab. If they bring out a better offer, you just update it. Takes about 5 mins.
Follow up in case it’s any use for anyone. Mrs Tash’s iPhone died and wouldn’t charge. Took it to a phone repair shop up Prestongate Hessle (I Repairs). Replaced the charging port for £60 and I think a new battery would have been about £50 if needed. Good service. Done in 2 hours.
Used these a few times can be found on Facebook , even come to collect and will drop your phone off after repair
