WHAT, joining a common market was a lies as the end goal was political union which was not on ballot paper.
I don't think there was a lie about the purpose of the EEC at its formation (or in the referendum in 1975), it was just an economic organisation then.

When it started to change though and take on wider political powers there should have been a fresh debate, and a referendum around signing up to the Maastricht Treaty in 1992. Bloody Tories eh?

Deluded Starmer can lie to himself all he likes - his shameful stubbornness is hurting UK

Sir Keir Starmer says staying on is about duty and service - but his shameful stubbornness is hurting the country and he should do the honourable thing.

John Healey did not resign over a trifling dispute with his pals.
He directly accused Sir Keir of failing to "defend the country", which is about as grave a charge as one minister can lay against a Prime Minister.
Al Carns, a decorated Royal Marine, followed him out the door. And what was Downing Street's response since that moment?
To brief that cutting benefits would not, after all, be necessary to fund the military.
Yet the instinct, even now, is to shield the welfare budget before the defence of the realm.
For the only defence Sir Keir appears ready to invest in is his own.

Sir Keir may well regret keeping Ms Reeves in the Treasury. A bolder Chancellor might have issued new defence bonds or announced a ring-fenced tax to support the military – or taken a scythe to benefits. Instead, she has torpedoed her neighbour in Number 10 and his premiership is sinking fast.

As with most of the treaties, if we had a vote and voted against it, we would be told to vote again until we accepted, as happened to Ireland, France, Netherlands and Belgium who all voted against one of the treaties and kept voting until they accepted.

You are the extremist hate filled person who has some real issues. Embarrassing that you are a fellow SAFC supporter.
Ive been a Sunderland supporter before you were an accident waiting to happen, i wouldn't class a person with so much pent up venom that they can't control like you have a supporter, however if this thread annoys you so much, please go and take a chill pill and visit one of the many other threads, where your vitriol is more than welcome amongst like minded people,

Haway man, history has shown us that the UK abides by a referendum decision when made. Look at all the ultimately unsuccessful pressure from several directions to try and re-run or overturn the Brexit referendum result. You won, no need to be so cynical.

Four Palestine Action defendants have been found guilty of criminal damage charges in connection with a break-in at an Israeli-owned arms factory near Bristol on 6 August 2024.

On Monday, after over 14 hours of deliberations, Leona Kamio, 30, Samuel Corner, 23, Fatema Rajwani, 21, and Charlotte Head, 29, were found unanimously guilty by jurors for the Elbit systems factory break-in.

Corner was acquitted of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent for striking a police officer with a sledgehammer, but found guilty by a majority of 11 to one of the lower offence of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

Wasn't the countries that forced the vote again, it was the EU minions in Brussels.
