Nothing's changed since we were young men like yourself (or younger),just starting off our long careers supporting City.
I started going when I was 8/9,it was motown(Diana Ross,Smokey Robinson,Martha Reeves etc),mungo jerry, the hollies,Elvis,Kenny Rogers etc etc blaring from the tannoys. It went from that to glam rock,Bowie,T Rex,Showaddywaddy,Mud,even disco stuff. My late father(who sat in the main stand) used to say "what's that bloody noise, they sound as if they're in pain"," bloody rubbish", "cats chorus"etc,etc..(He was big on Jazz and Blues, that sort of stuff that I thought was ****,not now though).
It's a generational thing,it's always been the case and some of us have now very much become our Fathers
If truth be told it affects me very little,I cut it fine when I go to football and I'm that desperate for a pee when I get to the ground that I sometimes miss the first couple or so minutes. The only thing that pisses me off if I'm sat before kick off is that screeching nonsense of the cnut on the Mike roaring at the stands.
You're not fighting a losing battle and if you feel you are,it's a battle that we've all fought at some point in our lifes
