The club is addressing the issue of fans whose tickets were rescinded for the Newcastle United away fixture. Fans with a legitimate entitlement to a ticket will be contacted by the club.

A membership scheme will be introduced in the summer. It will be built to service fans locally & across the world, with both free & paid options.

That would’ve been a great idea if they’d done that before the game.

My belief is that they used the situation as an excuse because they were under pressure for tickets from corporate clients, etc, plus friends and family of players.

What they did was disgraceful.

That's a prity hard belief to prove. I would find it hard to believe corporate or friends and family of the players marched in with the convoy. Did anyone witness any other coaches accessing the hotch potch other than the two for the players and the board?

It's a belief based on a series of recent occasions such as sending players into the Sunderland away sections, SKP, Nyron, etc, the International Fans Day, etc. Incidentally I like and appreciate these initiatives on principle but it does mean tickets are taken from regular Sunderland travellers. The Everton and Liverpool games were sold out meaning hundreds were unable to buy tickets.

There's naturally more pressure on the club now, being in the PL, to provide tickets to corporate clients, etc. The ever changing regulations and lack of communication between supporters and the ticket office is a regular issue on forums, etc. At the Newcastle away game, for example, I was in the lift and talked to a group of people who'd come over from Strasbourg. On the way home I sat with Talbi's parents. One of the Sunderland first team players gave a couple of tickets to joiners who'd done some work for him, that's documented.

I'm well aware that various people are entitled to tickets, player's families or whoever, but I do suspect the way 60 tickets suddenly became available was a little too convenient ...

... they've had plenty of time to contact those who unjustly had tickets taken from them, it hasn't happened.

Good points marra.

I watched the Nyron blog the other day and agree it was a great connection between the fans and the club. We need to see more of this. I hope the 60 weren't sacrificed on this altar.

Same here, I loved the Nyron thing but it means there was at least three people involved on the day, possibly four.

When every away game is sold out it means regular supporters aren't getting those tickets ...

... after trudging around League One, etc, I'm with you and hoping people aren't now pushed out.
