The Telegraph reports that the intern was pressurised into filming twice, and that he refused once, with another junior filming at Ipswich.

They also say Southampton lied about what had been done, and and how the film had been used. This is just from the written reasons for the current punishment.

They are in this up to their necks and it probably goes higher than the coach, who now looks toast and unemployable here. The FA investigation might unearth more, and Southampton could be in for a lot more than four points deduction next season.

For what they did to the younguns, I hope it's forty points.

Makes you wonder if Southampton played so terribly in the first half of the first leg on purpose. As if to say 'see, the spying had no effect on our performance, it gave us no advantage.' Same reason as why they admitted to spying on Ipswich and Oxford. They just happened to handpick two games of which they didnt win?

Utter shambles.

Southampton pull a mission impossible and get caught.

Middlesbrough couldn't hit a barn door in 210 minutes over 2 legs and go to the final because of Southampton playing I spy.

The only right outcome in all of this is a Hull win on Saturday. That's not me being harsh on Middlesbrough, on the contrary I couldn't give a shiny ****e about them, but the word fair has been thrown around latey, well, Hull coming up is fair. imo ofcourse.

Probably right that. Don't mind Boro actually, unless we are play them, but they couldn't get going in the game at home more than away.

That said, Hull were awful anarl! And Boro were in the top two nearly all season.

fully agree, sarf'ampton have blown thier chance and are rightly kicked out, hull should really get a 'bye' with the opponents being disqualified.

Not really fair on the team that got cheated though if Hull just get given a 'pass' to the PL and Boro are forgotten about.

A lot of our fans are still upset and 'feel cheated' at the non penalty against Liverpool, Ballard's red against Wolves etc.

I think it's only right that Boro have been given the place in the PO Final. It's nearly always a good game to watch and I'd be disappointed if it didn't go ahead because of one lot of cheating twats.

as other have said, it wont just be Tonda leaving.

and the longer he is still there, the worse this will get for them.

If the FA find more evidence, it could be expulsion from the league itself. ( runours atm)

Some saints are now starting to realise that the club has done wrong, ( some not all) some are going to try and get into Wembley tomorrow, as "its only spying, its not like we've had anyone killed"

is going to be very interesting summer on the Solent

They appear to have got off lightly considering the written reasons published last night. I'd blast them to the outer atmosphere for what they did to the young lads, never mind the systematic cheating.

It depends on how thorough the FA investigation is. They might just want to underline the EFL decisions and move on.

They are usually useless, so that would be my bet, maybe a token recommendation of another two points or so

But the idea that Southampton only spied on three clubs, one of them being a team in the bottom three, is wildly fanciful. All about smoking guns now, and how interested the FA are in finding them.

They could be in some very deep trouble.

This reminds me of when the police 'solve' past crimes when, in reality, they just wait until coconspirators fall out.

The various culprits, at Southampton, may be supporting each other now but I'm certain they'll fall out ...

... when that happens more will come out as they try to shift the blame.

Sadly this will reflect badly on football, as a whole, and has spoiled some of the enjoyment for Hull, Boro, etc, and all of us.

The saga does reflect badly on the world of football and the integrity of sporting competition. Spying is probably rife in other countries so I'm pleased to see the EFL are applying the rules with a heavy hand.

English football isn't innocent but it sounds like parts of Europe are a mess in this regard. It may be a wake up call for some other countries to act and clean up. Whether the warning is heeded and fully addressed is another thing.
