I watched a programme by a train buff, and he reckoned that the biggest gains would be on other routes that would have more capacity as they wouldn't have to share the mainline if those trains used HS2.

They even showed the knock on would benefit places like North Wales.

They missed a massive opportunity. Nobody wants or needs to get to Birmingham half an hour earlier but instead British Rail should have invested in Heritage Lines and brought back chuff chuff steam engines. Stick a Hogwarts badge on the front and the cnuts would be queueing round the block to get a ticket.

They could have made even more money with themed days. "Steaming, Get Steamed, Steam Engine Experience" where you get a bunch of people pished and at Clapham Junction they let on a gang of chimps to come and steal your phone.

Or on the Potter theme "Harass Hermione Day" where you have a bunch of lookalike actresses dressed as schoolgirls and the winner is the one who takes an upskirt of Ms Granger with proof that she does/does not wear scanties and, if the latter, does she go au naturale or does she shave her magic pumpkin?

In short, once assessing all options, the chinkies & nips are way ahead, honkies are doing ok but black, brown and muddy coloured people are generally thick as pudding.
