Saw the post below otr, some decent teams in the conference league....

Some of the teams in the conference league next season include Rennes, Besiktas, Freiburg, Atalanta, Panthaniakos, Braga and potentially, Ajax plus the 7th side in Spain (could be Valencia).

Can we have Atalanta and Ajax away please. Direct flights from Ponteland to both Bergamo and Amsterdam and would be some great games for the fans.

It's true that we need snookers now Dave, but so do snooker players!

Yes, Spurs can do us a favour as can Man Utd, etc.

Even Newcastle can help by drawing at Fulham, both on 49 points so could cancel each other out.

Liverpool could beat Brentford as a favour to us ...

... after all it's what Bob Paisley would've wanted <cheers>
To secure conference league:

•Sunderland must beat Chelsea

•Brentford must drop points to Liverpool or Brighton must lose to Manchester United

Europa League possibility:

•Sunderland must beat Chelsea

•Brighton and Brentford both lose

Hhhaaa'wwwwaaaaayyyyyy the Lad's

I have a mate who is a Chelsea season ticket holder and he reckons that the feeling in the club is that they absolutely do not want Thursday night football next season, especially the conference league.

They want to beat Spurs because they hate them and if they could get them relegated all the better, but we may well see a "much younger" side take to the pitch at the SoL next weekend. Quite arrogant if you ask me but you never know there may be some truth in it.

Interesting, but not sure there's much credence in that. Chelsea, regardless of their issues, have some very good players, young or not.
However,I'm not sure they'll be up to the intensity we will bring to this match,I'm looking to cheer the Lads to another home win.
I don't care about Europe,I think that's the next year target!

This for me. Next season will be the European push as part of the second 5 Year Plan...

Remember...

I agree its a case of, if we get there fair enough lets have a go , but would prefer another year of building and establish a foothold.

In 1973 I gave my FA Cup final ticket to my aging Uncle Mervyn after being persuaded that, as a 17 year old, I'd have plenty of chances to go again, especially as Sunderland were 'on the up' ...

... if we scrape into Europe on goal difference with the biggest fluke goal ever seen I'm having it!

Besides, after losing two derby matches, Sunderland getting into Europe could seriously affect the Geordie Nation's mental health :emoticon-0136-giggl

Massive sacrifice on your behalf!!!

We need EVERYONE to bring the noise on Sunday to get the lads over the line.

Yeah I understand that sentiment, take your chances as they show up and have a go. No problem with that, I just feel we need to ensure the club continues establishing itself in the league. Many of us have seen far too many relegation/promotions seasons.. Its not a big deal I can see both sides of the argument.

He was a lifelong supporter, from Leadgate, who rarely missed a game and, tbf, it was him who first gave me a Charlie Hurley rosette and told me I was a Sunderland supporter ... I was only 8yo but they grabbed you quick in those parts!

And I agree about Sunday, no excuses for sitting and waiting for a goal, even if we go behind!

I did the same with my boy and got him a season ticket at 5yr old. Poor bugger had a great start watching Celtic smash us lol followed up with a relegation and two failed Wembley trips!!!

Saturday should be about all out support no matter what the outcome is.

Atalanta would be great
