The Football League's inactivity before the 2nd leg has come back to bite them in the arse.

If we lose to Southampton and the decision were then made to prevent Southampton from being promoted, all three of the other clubs would have an argument that they had been unfairly penalised. In Millwall's case, being the third best team in the division and yet seeing either City or Boro go up at their expense would raise the question of why other play-off losers should be considered preferable. Might we even see the Premier League come to an agreement that, as City and Boro would both have been defeated by Southampton, only two clubs be relegated to the Championship? This would be a convenient way of keeping West Ham in the top-flight. But then, City's argument would be that they had lost to an opponent who had gained an unfair advantage in their semi-final...

What a ****show <laugh>
True
If they’d have given the first leg to Boro 3-0 then everyone could have got on with things, including Southampton.
They just looked the other way and crossed their fingers.

how are sales going? wife said she saw on instagram city tickets are sold out but now can't find it. with the tickets being released in stages i assumed bs.

Just had a look on the ticketing, plenty of seats available in the upper area, and they have also opened up more seats on the Club Wembley level as well.
No were near sold out yet.

So, could the EFL expel Southampton 'subject to appeal' on Tuesday. The final then still goes ahead. If we win, promotion is clear. If Southampton win, the appeal is heard (in quick time) and our promotion then depends on whether or not the appeal is successful.?

Boros manager said it best

The one way a manager/coach can try and win
Is by doing something tactically different/diff lineup/formation/corner routines etc etc
And they can spend hours upon hours on it

If someone then films all their efforts
It can really ****ing sting

So whether boro were just doing sessions of star jumps all week in training, southampton blatantly intended to gain any sort of insight and its blatant cheating and against the results

Harsh punishment to make anyone else think twice is the only way

Leeds got off lightly
Cant happen again
It's not been mentioned much, but im sure much of the filming was to do with whether Hackney was fit/training...

I dont have any faith in the efl

I think the game goes ahead as normal
And if we lose

They go up and get a big fine and points deduction NEXT time they are in efl

Would be us and boros luck that they go and establish as a prem side and never come down for decades

Thats what pisses me off

Their punishment might never even matter if they dont get relegated

What if the ineligible player is crap and makes an error during the game? The team fielding an ineligible player hasn’t gained an advantage using that logic.

It doesn’t really matter if Southampton gained a small, large or no sporting advantage at all. They cheated with the intention of gaining a sporting advantage and that’s all that matters. If I rob a bank and only come away with £500 instead of £500,000, I’m still a thief and criminal.
Every team cheats in every game that is played with 'the intention of gaining a sporting advantage' Even pinching a few yards at a throw is cheating in the eyes of the law. Shirt pulling and holding is another, show me a corner kick these days where that doesn't take place? Its cheating.
As for robbing banks, you may be a thief and a criminal but I'm sure you'd get a longer sentence for stealing half a million pound then you would for nicking £500.
Fielding an ineligible player is an offence, if he scores an own goal has nothing to do with it as he shouldn't have been on the pitch in the first place.
Quite simply the EFL, Boro and Southampton knew about this before their Semi Final games even took place. If it was so serious the EFL should have stepped in then, but it appears to only have become an issue when Boro lost.
I couldn't care less which of them we play in the Final but this confusion, doubt and uncertainty is totally unnecessary and avoidable and not to say totally unfair to Hull City as a club and their supporters.

We will only get promoted if we win. If this rolls on past the final and Southampton win, if their promotion eventually gets chalked off then the 18th placed premier league team will stay up. They can’t promote us for a transgression that was against Boro before any semi finals were played, without giving Boro the chance to play us. By then it will be too late for that.

Lets stop talking as if us getting an instant promo is a realistic option.

But diving for a penalty is completely different

More than one thing can be cheating at once you know
The world is not black and white

The couldn’t realistically have done that in a day. Southampton would have appealed it and the semi final would still be dragging on now as the 2nd leg wouldn’t be able to be played until it’s finished.

The EFL can ask the PL to apply a points deduction .

It's far and away the cleanest and most simple, but it'll never happen due to the revenue involved in the final...they aren't ever going to say bye bye to that income
I actually wonder how much the efl actually make you know. OLM (i think) suggested we make 2 mil the final. Which divided by 36,000 the number of tickets we are getting is 55.5. Some tickets are £100 or £80 but its still a huge share of that gate reciept.

Hiring Wembley is a lot of money, the EFL will be paying that from their share.

There will be a penalty clause for not using the stadium but if the independent body rule that Saints are out I dont think the EFL would be in financial trouble by having to ditch the game. It will just be a kick in the teeth they can probably recoup in fines
