I don't think the punishment can be anywhere near the level people are talking about - large fine and suspended points is the most likely and if that is the case I can't see the club fighting it at all as there is little reason to do so.

Any thing bigger is saying that one picture taken from behind a tree is of an equal level of dishonesty as breaking FFP rules or administration rules over a season or so and however you spin it that fact is that those are not the same level of action.

Any other form of wrangling the competitions results is just going to be a legal minefield that the EFL can't afford / won't want to walk into.

What any of the other hounding parties want is frankly irrelevant.
I agree but as has now been confirmed by the EFL - they’ve not taken it off the table. And they should have done

Looks to me like this is more serious than just spying aganst Boro.

I do no think the hearing would be deferred until 19th if it was just a bloke with a mobile. It looks to me that the accusations will have come in from the other teams too. Not a one off incident in my opinion. I think it is far more serious and more widespread than we imagined. No way EFL will make thos statement if it is just one off. If this is the case, there no way we will be allowed into the final.
I can see your point but equally, has it been deferred? If anything it’s been brought forward from the two week usual timeframe …?

We're the perfect club for this as far as the EFL are concerned

-Not media darlings (Leeds, West Ham etc)
-A totally unassuming and compliant fan base
-No massive celebrity fans
-Unlikely to kick up a legal fuss.

I'm calling it now, we'll be kicked out of the play offs.

It’s an option , anything’s an option as nobody’s been here before .
The EFL Introduced a law ( post Leeds ) , but were too stupid to set out the definitive punishments .

The panel will have to be VERY careful in whatever punishment they hand out , as they are setting a precedent .

Someone posted in far greater detail further back .
I’m not quite sure “anything” is an option and that’s my issue. Boro fans for example seem to think relegation to League one might be an option and getting chucked out the playoffs is the least of our worries

Agree on points 1-3. But what makes you think point 4 is true?

I was 100% certain we would play in the final. This is the first time I have now thought potentially not!

What a load of ****!

We may as well fudge the PSR rules as that would give us less of a punishment!

This would stop innocent players and innocent fans from a day at Wembley that we have earned!

The club will surely take legal action, could the players take legal action individually too? How about the fans?

This would bankrupt the EFL, surely they're not that stupid!!

Maybe it is a way of looking like it's on the table but it actually isn't?

Yeah, no, I'm definitely starting to fear the worst here after that statement.

Of course, its right that they have to plan for it to still happen right now, that literally means nothing right now.

Reading the statement doesn't really change my viewpoint. All they say is that the outcome of the process (ie appeal needs) could impact the scheduling of the final - it doesn't imply any change of teams in it (and I wouldn't expect it to as that would hold an element of pre-decision bias) and to remind purchasers that there are certain terms to the ticket sale that would be in effect in the event of a reschedule.
