How are Labour doing after their first 12 months

I thought this was a wind up, but apparently some legacy benefits cover it, not Universal Credit though, but Pension Credit does.

This gives some AI context on it...

  • Legal Context: While bigamy is illegal in the UK, the DWP recognises polygamous marriages for benefit purposes only if they were legally contracted overseas in countries where the practice is lawful and the parties were domiciled there at the time.
  • Scope: This rule applies only to legacy benefits like Pension Credit, Housing Benefit, and Income Support. Universal Credit does not recognise polygamous marriages; under UC, additional spouses must claim separately as single individuals.
  • Household Impact: The DWP notes that very few households claim this way (estimated at fewer than 10 for Housing Benefit). Financial experts often point out that claiming as an "additional spouse" actually results in less money (around £125/week) than if that person claimed as a single individual (over £200/week).

weakling u turns again ffs
Pathetic little twerp

Embarrassing

This is actually a very interesting move and if read in line with the announcement about nationalising British Steel, produces an image of a PM and government that is trying to fight off the Greens and Reform at the same time. It's a fight they are doomed to lose as it will tear the party in two.

This is my opinion has been Starmer's main problem from day one. He tries to be something for everyone so ends up being nothing to everyone.

He doesn't have a clear political philosophy at all. Polanski and Farage do, and that's why they're attracting voters.

Even worse Harriet Harman who "allegedly" supported a call for the legal age for sex with girls to be lowered to 10 yrs old
she also thinks men dressed as women are real women so its a typical starmer appointment going by his previous attempts at hiring the right person for a role

Incompetent is too nice a word

They will just become ungovernable, tomorrow in Parliament he will have at least 86 MP's sitting behind him who have called for him to resign, let alone the loss of Jess Phillips, well four ministers have gone in total.

All those that came out of Number 10 and went straight over to the media to to support him today, Starmer loyalists were orchestrated to do so - the timing was impeccable, Liz Kendall, Steve Reed, Pat McFadden, Dave Lammy and a few others.

Wes Streeting didn't go over to the media though to speak, he just scurried off as quick as he could, chased. <laugh>

Mahmood has said she will not resign, so that's awkward now (didn't stop to talk to the media as she went in) and I've heard no word from Yvette Cooper.
To be fair tho it would be beneficial in the long term for Britain if Starmer and the entire excuse for a Government stayed until they are forced into a General Election with a result that made the Tories in 2024 look like a Victory, and they and the Rabid Greens were consigned to the Political wastelands

BUT for that to be beneficial the Lib Dems must ditch Ed (Coco the Clown) Davey and Elect a leader and form an opposition Shadow Cabinet that actually look as if they understand anything about being in Government

AND hopefully Reform will be sussed out by then and not be elected in a General Election

Restore will be contenders by then too i reckon

And they'll take any reform fall offs

No ones going back to the cons or labour for a generation tbh

Good point about Davey.

He has settled into the role of outside disruptor far too deeply.

There's a world of difference between being a rebel and being a leader.

Unless it's Syria, in which case you apparently just need to groom your beard and put on a suit.

What is actually the difference between Restore and Reform?

Does it come down to number of mini roundabouts painted and flags per lamppost?

So to recap, you are hoping no one at all forms the next government?
