They would have still had to move those people into town with groups of little.gimps from hull everywhere. They got the cps to clear the cells this afternoon, they knew a lot of the Millwall fans would not leave hull tonight.

If anyone is to blame its sky for demanding a game like this be played on a friday night when there is no suitable train to pen them onto.

From where I was stood, right next to Millwall on the steps, there was only one group starting this and it was the city fans safely at the bottom of the steps giving it large. I walked with Millwall into town, they didnt give a toss and just wanted a beer.
Coyle will have them then tonight!

Egan challenged him once at the end smashed him on the hip, then cya later off he went Hughes needs to learn the dark arts and stop moaning there was a reason Coburn was on Hughes all night.
I've been saying this about Hughes since last season. He has such a hard time with big strikers every time he faces them. They just back into him and then bring the ball down like he's not there, and he gets animated and desperate trying to do something about it but he just can't. It's weird because he looks so strong but in practice he isn't for some reason.

Also his thing of getting stuck under a high ball was exposed again in the first 10 seconds when he had the free header to clear and ended up putting it out for a throw because he got himself in the wrong spot. It's weird he's got so much potential with his ability on the ball and we talk about a big money move for him but some of the real basics of defending are lacking with him.

He just isn’t that big physically

I think it comes with experience. He’s playing with a double hernia as well. If we don’t go up we have to look at bids of 10 million.

I understand what Jim's saying about the train situation, but I do think the police picked the worst of all worlds by arranging everyone into clear groups and forcing them to stay within a few yards of each other. It always seems like they're desperate for it to kick off when they do that. If they needed to get the Millwall fans out asap then do that and plan it from the off. Close the bridge to City fans just before kickoff and get them out asap. Don't let a few City fans on, then spend time closing it as if none of this could've been planned ahead, then let the Millwall fans on, then make them stay there, etc etc. Just seems crafted to try and create a situation so they can say football fans kicked off.

The more pressing question is do we bring in Ajayi to deal with it for the away leg because we can't have them bringing it down comfortably in our half every time they hoof it long. But then the problem is if he ****s it up with his passing again. And this has been the conundrum with our centre back options all season; all of them have major flaws and you just have to pick which ones you're happier to accept on any given day.

We need to be more physical across the board. As others have said, Belloumi going down every time he felt an arm on him was getting him nowhere. You have to compete and then maybe you get the foul but if you go down that early you're never getting it. I sort of respect that he keeps picking this adventurous, all-out front four but it rarely seems to work in practice and I think the argument for starting Joseph who'll compete more physically is getting stronger all the time.

Police could easily have kept Millwall fans in even just for 10 minutes. Instead fed them up onto the bridge then decided to hold both fans. They then let the Millwall fans through before hundreds of city fans stormed up the stairs and I imagine all hell broke loose after that. If I was going as a family on Monday I’d be scared
It was crazy to not keep the Millwall fans back. It was almost like it was set up for a stand off! Let’s let both sets of fans approach the sale point at the same time in

Exactly this. It was almost like it had been orchestrated to create a problem. We’ve been saying for years how they don’t let home fans move freely around the stadium straight after the match whereas the away fans are just allowed to walk the other way and up the way walk and mingle with home fans thus making the segregation they create pointless. Tonight was absolutely typical. It probably would have caused fewer issues having no police and just letting people move freely. I feel the police’s actions incited the fans and made the atmosphere more toxic.

Lundstram in the middle and Crooks advanced for me. It also leaves a proper match winner on the bench to bring on in Geldhart or Belloumi. Thought Belloumi got fouled loads that the officials let go.

There is no right or wrong answer really. Whatever they did tonight would have been criticised. They were dealt a horrible hand with very limited trains and a short window to get them to the station.

As I said on a previous post this game could have been played tomorrow lunchtime. Sky demanded it was Friday night and thats left the club, and more importantly in this case the police, with a real tough situation.

It will be the same for many hull city fans on Monday. Im staying over until Tuesday and anyone going down on train will have to do the same. The difference is london is massive and we will filter into the city with no problem. Millwall fans staying in hull tonight have headed into a town centre that can erupt very quickly. I think they closed a few pubs pretty sharpish didnt they?

As Newland said, football specials are the obvious solution but you cant run them these days. National rail want more than a weeks application for services and companies like hull trains dont have any spare stock to use anyway. Every unit of hull trains stock is used daily to fulfil their normal schedule.

Agree Hughes did struggle but that #19 is an absolute ****ing tank. Was well impressed with him.

Even making it 7:45 would have helped. Was a few lads snaking their way across the bridge panicking cos they had 10 minutes to catch their last train. One of them kept saying “I told you we should have left early” <laugh>

Felt pretty bad for them bet they missed it unless all of them could run like Mo Farah.

Liam Millar goes from Diego Maradona to Ryan Williams in one touch.

One of the most frustrating players I've seen play for City.

Probably one of his worst games for us tonight IMO. Struggled to run with the ball like usual and the odd time he got into a good position his delivery was woeful. His touch deserted him. I think I would start Joseph on the left with Belloumi right and Crooks advanced. Then we have Geldhart and Millar to run at tired legs.

Sky TV has a lot to answer for but fingers will be pointed anywhere else but at them.

Tough game tonight.

All to play for.
They do have too much power but surely it isn't that unreasonable to have a football match at 8pm between two sides in the same league. Society should be able to work around that and make it work I would think.

I have no evidence to back this up.

But it feels like Gelhardt has had his best games one of Beloumi and Miller haven't played.

It feels they just get in each other's way.
