Directly or Indirectly, no one can argue it wasn't the parents fault.
No, it's absolutely f*cking tragic mate.
As you clearly realised I was being ultra-sarcastic.
The horrible truth is that thousands of children go missing every year but none get the attention this case has received.
The parents are entirely to blame but we're not allowed to say that because it's 'indelicate' ...
... leaving babies in a strange place, while you go out on the piss, is disgraceful no matter how you try to twist it.
Spot on, I’ve always believed this.. regardless of what happened to this poor Bairn.. . those two morons neglected their kids in a foreign country… outrageous.. should have had all their kids took into careI honestly believe, if it had been a couple from a council estate who had done the same. They'd have been prosecuted and faced a much more severe public outcry. Which they throughly deserve.
If parents in the UK left minors in a house unattended they would be prosecuted.
One night would’ve been bad enough. There is an overwhelming opinion on this thread, none of us would have left their child alone and went on the drink.
My 2 kids are practically up now, one of them flew the nest and now has his own kids, my grandkids. I never left my kids unattended and I would not leave my grandkids unattended, normal decent people do not neglect their kids like that, only 2 people know what happened that night I dont think we will ever know.
God Bless that bairn
Mad isn’t it. My kids are 21 and 15 now. But they were never left alone when they were young. Even older than Madeline was!! As you say, of this had been your kids or mine, we’d be doing time by now!!If normal working class parents left minors aswell and not Doctors/surgeons they would be too.
What they did that night is despicable. I wouldnt even leave my lads unattended for a couple of minutes to pay for fuel with the car locked, id take them in the garage with me when they were little, nevermind leaving them in bed while I had a night out when they was a baby sitting service available.
Were the other kids ever tested for sedatives ?One night would’ve been bad enough.
Children, not toddlers would’ve been bad enough.
In an English speaking place they’d been before would’ve been bad enough.
But having a child checking service available, that they chose not to pay for, pushes their culpability over the edge in my opinion.
As soon as I became aware of the problem the situation I asked myself why they didn’t do what I’ve done in similar ‘security’ situations. You just log into the wi-fi and start up a facetime call where you can see and hear the kids but mute your end.
Then you can hear if they cry/scream/get up … I’ve always believed they didn’t have to think too hard because they knew the kids were sedated and wouldn’t be getting up.
And wouldn’t risk being struck off, as doctors, for stealing the drugs or doping the kids …
… that would be too costly.
Marcus my youngest is 16, I am on edge when she is out with friends and cant settle until I know she is home, if she gets a bus home at night I am waiting for her getting off it, I have her tracked on my phone and not ashamed to admit it, we live in different times to when I was a kid but to do what they did in a foreign country is neglect of the highest order. Why would it even enter anyones mind to do what they claim they did, they are culpable whichever way you look at itMad isn’t it. My kids are 21 and 15 now. I don't know the details but it was reported that they were tested, months later back in the UK, and the results announced by their solicitors. Cynics would suspect the hair could've been taken from an area of the house where it had been for any length of time. Big cynics would point out that it's common for parents to keep a lock of hair from their children. I don't know if the hair was forensically examined by the police or if it was paid for by the parents privately tbh. Were the other kids ever tested for sedatives ?
The levels they went to for a night on the drink amazes me, its pure evil to sedate anyone without their permission let alone your own innocent kids
A friend of a friend and his wife had just had their first baby. It was the wife's first girlie night out with her friends since parenthood. Leaving the father on parent duties alone for the first time. Whilst the 1 month old was asleep he decided to nip to the Chinese and order something (why he didnt have it delivered i have no idea). He was away about 20 minutes I think. When he walked back through his front door he was met by his wife, who had unexpectedly returned home for something. Can you imagine this emotional contrast between the joy of preparing and demolition your favourite grub, and the tsunami of hell that was dished out instead.
The fury that woman must have felt. Nervous first time mother, coming home, no sign of him, but a sleeping baby lying in the cot. Then the door opening and him walking in with £20 worth of Chinese in his hand whilst wearing a cheesy grin. Thing is, this wasnt a person who knew he was doing something wrong and took the risk of, at best, his wife finding out, or at worst, putting his babies wellbeing at risk. This was a man who, at the time, didnt realise he was doing anything wrong at all. And this was a man, who, up until this point, I would have deemed as being quite intelligent.
Not sure, havnt seen or heard about him for yearsI bet they are not together anymore are they?
The respect she must have lost for him that night could never be brought back.
