so what brb is trying to say is that sucssessive British governments have funded the genocide of the Ukrainian people
No I've not said that but I can see why you might think that.

Genocide is a strong word and not one I would really relate to Ukraine, atlhough what happened in Mariupol pretty much went ignored, albeit it that would be Russia not the British governments. I certainly didn't see any protests in London related to it and I really don't fancy writing war and peace on my views today...

AI Overview

Whether the 2022 siege of Mariupol by Russian forces constituted genocide is a subject of intense international debate, with many officials, human rights observers, and legal experts describing it as such, while formal legal determinations are ongoing. [1, 2]

Back to my own view, if you are funding a war, even in defence, you are contributing in the knowledge to people being killed, in people being sent to the front line, in people, young men being dragged off the street for conscription.

That got overlooked on here, like the other genocides that Israel and the Jews can’t be blamed for.

Starmer blames the ‘far right’ people for everything that he possibly can. I have just read when it comes to antisemitism, he has blamed… Iran.

Not the actual antisemites in this country that have been shouting hate at and trying to kill Jews over the last 18 months or so, but ****ing Iran.

Get off the stage you ****er.

Tuesday's summit saw discussions with members of the Jewish community, hosted by senior ministers, with leaders in their sector, reflecting on identifying the forms of antisemitism on display and what can be done to tackle it.

Guests included Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley, Chief Constable Sir Stephen Watson from Greater Manchester Police, as well as university vice-chancellors, Arts Council England, NHS bosses and trade union leaders.

Leaving the summit, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, Phil Rosenberg, said there was "anger" that issues with antisemitism had been allowed to "fester" and become a "crisis" but that the summit had been helpful.

"We need to do three things: we need to protect, we need to prosecute and we need to partner," he said.

At the summit, the prime minister announced that universities will be expected to publish the scale of antisemitism on their campuses and "demonstrate action" they are taking to tackle it.

Meanwhile, he said the Arts Council, which supports cultural organisations and projects, would be expected to withdraw public funding where it is being used to platform antisemitism.

But just gave the Muslim coucil 140m <laugh>

"the British economy would collapse without immigrants".......
Bangladesh is deemed as a developing country but there is so much exploitation, this is why a lot of businesses offshore to there because labour is peanuts. And while I don't begrudge them the work to give them hope, it often comes at the expense of our own trade, but that's the consumer market for you. I've worked with people who had to go set up stuff in Bangladesh and you have to have private security, slightest sniff of money can put you at risk. Got to be honest if I was in Bangladesh I'd probably want to escape.

Is there not a cap on how much benefits will pay?

Only reason I ask is I knew two people, the renter and the landlord, and the landlord only charged the renter what benefits would contribute, even though the rent was higher the landlord accepted the lower amount. The renter and landlord were known to each other so it was like a mutual agreement, so I naturally assumed there was a benefits cap in place, but this was a long time ago now.

They can’t be held responsible for property prices going up which means higher mortgages, when there’s factors like an ever increasing population and shortage of properties which increases demand therefore house prices shoot up.

Interest rates shooting up regularly over these last few years, isn’t the fault of landlords but it does mean higher mortgage payments and most landlords just want these rents to cover these outgoings.

That’s without the insurances and safety checks that need paid for. Also required is a little safety blanket for any repairs or refurbs after a tenant has moved out.

I've read loads of landlords are selling off now, because of recent changes, don't know if that's true.

Oh right, I don't know then mate, not saying rents aren't that much, because they are. Just had the impression there was a cap to what benefits would pay, I must be wrong then in that assumption.

Yeah, it is true mate.

The problem coming with that is not many people want to get into the landlord business now so these once rental properties are being snapped up by owner-occupiers. That means less rental homes on the market and another reason why prices continue to rise. The rises have been restricted but they’ll go up more regularly because of these restrictions.

Removing section 21 (no fault eviction) has had a bigger impact because it’s harder now to remove problematic tenants.
