Just seen that David Bruce has joined Sheffield Wednesday, glad to see him back in the game, and with a club with tradition and a good fan base.
I’ll always be grateful for what he did here and wish him well in his new role.

I was amazed that our car still had 4 wheels when we got back to it in a Moss Side street
I can’t remember how much we paid the little urchins to ‘look after’ it but they did a good job

I was 15 and wanted to go to that one. A friend's older brother was going to take us and his mates down in the back of a transit van. My Mam said no.

I thought she was really mean and unfair until I had a teenage daughter myself and decided maybe she was right after all

I went and was in the Kippax Stand where my mate and his girlfriend were in the main away stand for this game - I thought we were all in the same stand. Asked a copper on horseback where the stand was and got the third degree as to where I bought it from as it was a home stand.
For some reason it's stuck in my mind that they played James and "Sit Down" at half time and the Man City fans singing it to us. Was absolutely gutted at the end and just wanted to go home but had to meet up to walk to the car so was just hanging around at the meeting point.

One other thing that stood out in my memory is when we were in a pub before the game (as you do!) My first time at Man City and you heard stories about Moss Side so I was slightly apprehensive. Anyways after a few pints I needed the bog so found the gents and this massive Man City fan came in and looked me up and down as I had my Sunderland top on. "You a Sunderland fan?" - he was bright as well as big! As I couldn't really deny it. I said yes. "I don't really ever say this but I hope you lot beat us to stay up, you're a good club with decent fans". I thanked him and then got the hell out of there before he changed his mind!
