I think this is probably -in general - the wrong stick to beat these regs with. Slick tyres aren’t inherently flawed or dangerous, but they aren’t suited to wet conditions, hence we have inters and wets. I do get that if the drivers had a bit more control of the electrical power application, that peak power could be left up to their right foot.
I`ve always thought that because of intensive testing they have now have the tyre situation in what can be said to be the best that could be expected.
It`s these rules that employ the use of electric motors being powered with a battery that is drained quickly, but is then charged again very rapidly. But it seems that that rapid charge is uncontrollable ( Just think of Oscar Piastri how he had no control of his car going to the grid before the start of the Australian GP ) so I would be wanting rather more than a bit more control of the electrical power application and demand 100% left up to their right foot.

I have a feeling that the power that the electrical motor delivers isn't very linear, it's all or nothing. If they are anything like EV motors it's 100% torque from start.
I don't think they are allowed to 'control' the motor torque as that could be considered traction control?

I think a few teams had a 'filming' day at Silverstone in the wet before the season started so they will have an advantage. I think it was Merc and Alpine although Cadillac also tested a few days earlier.

Fun race that. A good sign for the regulations as well? Most of the worst problems look at lot better, but we'll see how other tracks work.

Very impressed with Antonelli. Soaked up constant pressure from Norris. You could forget that he's a 19 year old only starting his second season.

Russell is the big disappointment of the year so far and was lucky not to lose more points. Needs to sort himself out quickly. A title that should be his is falling away

You actually rate Russel? A solid B+ driver at best.

Oh Charles...

Was just saying, not convinced that was his fault. If you watch when Piastri overtakes him (and for a couple of laps before too), his active aero was deploying really randomly. It didn't deploy at all down the straight until right before the corner, so I wouldn't be surprised if it randomly deployed again to cause the spin.

I thought I saw that too. When he spun the aero didn't seem to be deployed at all. It was like he had brake issues maybe.

Yeah, just rewatching it - the aero didn't deploy for the spin, but it was doing hooky stuff down the straight alright. Not sure everything was how it should have been there. Will be interesting to hear what he says.

LeClerc's day is getting worse! He's under investigation for leaving the track multiple times plus for potentially having an unsafe car - all on last lap!

Max gets 5 sec penalty for crossing pit exit line but stays 5th as Charles gets 20 seconds penalty for going off track multiple times, putting him the.
George and Max no action.
