I mean this is the same club that said Kulu had “just a knock”.

We shouldn’t be surprised any more.
The real issue with Deki's injury is that it exposes the problem with modern football injury diagnosis, and this isn't solely confined to our medical team: they work in two (for lack of better word) shifts, the first shift looks for evidence of being in an obvious state of disrepair such as an ACL injury, and the second shift is when the swelling goes down to see if there's an issue which snuck under the radar

In Deki's case the real issue seems to be that Ange took the news that it wasn't an immediate injury and called it a knock: and this isn't hyperbole, Deki went off injured on May 11th and Ange said it looked like a knock on 12th May - though it was confirmed he needed surgery on the 14th, which does fit the timetable that Ange's comment came when the initial swelling had not gone down, but when it had it revealed the actual injury

In summary: **** Guehi

Let's see if we can make the most of it psychology because it is definitely a boost if we are capable of using it as one.

With today's result and Villa with one eye on the 2nd leg maybe...I hope we can use all these factors to our advantage because this is the psychological stage of the season.

It really is the time to stand up and be counted if we are to have any hope whatsoever.

It probably wouldn't matter either way as I suspect if and when he plays in our final games, he's not going to have much of impact given he has been out for so long.
Much of Maddison's game is in the mind. I think he will make an immediate impact. The other question is the other players like Kolo and Tel who have no experience playing with him. Just a feeling that Tel will 'get him' straight away.

Tel has some experience of playing alongside him from last season

The fact that the most recent game they played alongside each other was when we played Eintracht Frankfurt last April is a bit of an issue, mind

He didn’t have much of an impact last season. He had a few good games but honestly, in terms of “impact” last season, there was a handful of games. I really can’t see him influencing anything except to having a good positive leader on the pitch which is what I believe you’re alluding to.

I'm not his biggest fan, but one of the reasons Maddison has struggled to make any consistent impact was the fact that Ange shoe-horned him in at LM where he was never really comfortable (he is far too one footed tbf). More than that was the issue that lost-a-yard-of-pace Son kept getting in his way and as a result neither of them were effective.

He needs to be played centrally linking midfield to attack. But does De Zerbi have the nous to abandon this 433 pish we (and half the league) have become obsessed with since Klopp and Pep made it the height of fashion?

Yes, you raise side valid points! I forgot he was wasted too much on the LW as opposed to being played centrally. His best moments were more noticeable at #10.

Good player to have when things are going well but he’s not a battler when the chips are down.

Needed at the moment because there’s no other creative options but survival or not, I’d look to move him on in the summer for a variety of reasons.

Coventry have been linked.
