Seen the highlights now - wow :emoticon-0104-surpr

None of the horseshoe passing sequences and careful probing we see so regularly but high lines, open spaces and exceptional skill, pace and quality. 9 goals suggest defensive frailties, which whilst there was some, even the best defensive units would have struggled to combat the offensive play on display.
Highlights wouldnt do it justice. It was 90+ minutes of highlights.
I was talking about it with a neighbour, a Liverpool supporter and one of mam's carers at the home, a lady season ticket holder at Everton.
With 9 goals you'd have expected defensive frailties or blunders, but you couldnt say there were (m)any. Both supported that view.
Great attacking play and superb skills, not to mention the fitness needed to keep it going for 90+ minutes.
Countering any defensive lapses, some of the finishing wasn't the highest. With the clear cut opportunities created, there could have been 4 or 5 more.
Hope the second leg lives up to the first.

Gogs losing 0-1 at home to Boro and Derby winning at home to the Blades and into the top 6.

Hull drawing at the mo at home to Norwich so Gogs down to 8th right now.

I'd rather watch a red hot branding iron coming towards my eye than Arsenal. :emoticon-0138-think

The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I think a red hot poker would be more dangerous in that situation, a branding iron would land on your cheek/nose/forehead and therefore just drying your eyeball out a little bit. Unless the cattle brand is a 'Full Stop' of course :emoticon-0138-think

Big day for Newport who play bottom of the table Barrow, who need a big win to have a chance of staying up on goal difference.

Two teams below them.
Harrogate play 9th place Barnet and Crawley play 4th place Salford who need a win for a chance of automatic promotion.
The team ahead of them on goal difference, Tranmere, play 6th placed Grimsby.

It would take an unlikely set of results for Newport to go down.
But.......

A win for their fans; the football authority has in its discretion removed the 15 points deduction facing Sheffield Wednesday next season after the club has come out of administration. <applause> to everyone associated with this across the board but especially the fans who are the most important factor in this episode.

I’m currently watching - more out of curiosity than anything - Hearts v Celtic.

So far I needn’t have bothered. No disrespect to Northampton - but they finished bottom of our league for a reason - would give both these teams a game.

Edit: it got better only as a spectacle and atmosphere caused by a turnaround by Hearts but still IMO the quality was average at best.

I know you deliberately said this to see if anyone was paying attention, so do I get a prize?

Hearts 2 v Rangers 1.

Rangers were leading at half time, so as you say a good turnaround by Hearts.

Hearts still have to play Celtic who are right behind them so will be an interesting end to the season (for Scots).

I read that goal line technology is not in operation in Leagues 1&2 (except play off games).

Luton Town feel aggrieved at Stevenage’s last gasp winner which on viewing was difficult to see if it had got over the line. To me it looked like it did. Have a look yourself.

Either way it’s who has got most points over the season not just in the final game.

A mate at our fishing club is one of BBM's predecessors at Man City, spending 12 years with the accademy. He also coached England age grade. Had an interesting chat with him at the lodge today.

He was at city when they were taken over in 2008 and spent time in Abu Dhabi with the owners helping design training facilities for the whole club amongst other things.

He went from sponsored events to raise funds for the kids to go to tournaments to 'how much do you want? That cant be enough. Have more!'

When they designed the indoor training facilities he was asked where the climate control was. When he asked what climate control, he was told it was so, in the week leading up to a big game, they could train in the same environment as they'd be playing. A game in spain, 28 degrees. A game in Norway, 6 degrees.

When they submitted plans for the training complex he was asked where the hotel was.
They wanted everyone on site the day before a game. They even went as far as researching players bedrooms so their room could have the same bed, curtains, carpets etc.

He said it was a different world.

He's still close to the club, doing some mentoring. He said they're negotiating with one 16 year old. His agent is asking for £40k a week for him. <yikes>
