Didn't realise the attack happened at the Hilton Hotel, apparently the attacker was staying at the hotel, so he wasn't checked until he got to security. Suppose it's one way of justifying Trumps ballroom build costs.

Edit: well he wasn't checked he introduced himself with a gun lol
Reports now saying that it all happened one floor up from the event, so Trump and dignitaries were never really in any danger although I do question how the **** someone could check into the hotel with arms before the event.

I was thinking this yesterday about if they checked the Hilton. I know after the attempt on Thatcher in Brighton many decades ago, they go over the hotel with sniffer dogs and everything now.

Although the US claimed protocols were followed and went as planned, I'm not convinced for the very reason you give. It's as I heard a sky reporter say yesterday, what if there had been more than one, like a gang of them.

Correct protocol to me is not having an attacker in the very hotel you are holding the banquet in. I thought it even funnier when I read that was the very same hotel that Reagan was attacked outside of. No lessons learned.

Trump has been out and saying that’s why he needs his ballroom, but ignoring the bit that it’s not an event which is organised by the Whitehouse. Having a nose around US media sites this morning and there is a huge amount of comments that this was all staged with various photographs of people including Trump not seeming all that interested when it kicked off?

I haven't really looked so much today, but I went on Twitter briefly this morning and I saw a thread discussing Trump, suggesting I assumed that he was watching from off stage and could be seen through the curtains, but it defo was not him, it was people baiting - But I've not looked at any Amercan news agencies.

One thing that got my attention was the agent who was shot but had a bullet proof vest on, is that standard protocol then with security agents, to wear a bullet proof vest? Not something I'd ever considered, thought must be a bit hot lumping that thing around on you all day, especially if you are trying to blend in.

The photos that I saw this morning showed Trump sitting next to Melania when it first kicked off with her looking horrified and him with a smirk on his face. TBF it could have been that he didn’t understand what was going on?
The second photo was a press briefing where he, alongside other members of his cabinet, were all smiles. It seemed a little strange to all be standing there grinning like cheshire cats after what had just gone on?

Wow <laugh>

Are we just going to forget someone has been caught and charged? Or is part of the conspiracy they’ve just agreed to throw their life away as well as put themselves in danger for the rest of their existence <laugh>

Yes mate. Standard practice for folk bodyguarding high profile people to wear bullet proof vests.

I wonder if Trump wears one, and if not why not. Probably always best to go for the head shot then lol.

I doubt that old oaf could carry it around with him. I only know because I had a mate bodyguarding some Royals out in Oman years ago and he said they all wore them. Then I just checked with google which confirmed that they do.

I'd never considered bullet proof vests, so I wouldn't make a very good assassin. It's added to my mental list now.

I use to be good at archery, I could be like that american guy that turned up to a protest with a crossbow, didn't work out well for him though and the method is a bit slow, not easy to conceal a crossbow either.

Mate, have you seen how many people Trump has pardoned. I’m sure there are enough brainwashed nutcases in the US who would “step up” if asked.
Unfortunately this type of reporting is what happens when the top dog is a serial liar, people no longer trust him to be honest.

Who does he think he is, Robin Hood <laugh>

Why don’t I remember this guy? Did this happen in the UK or the US?

America has plenty of idiots and plenty of guns, and he's probably the most hated president they've had.
And if you're gonna use a patsy, kill him.

Nobody should trust him. I have no doubt that I hate him as much as you, but I’m not going to be blinded by hate to buy into these conspiracies. Is the guy from California did I read? Pretty sure that’s a heavily Democrat supporting area.

It looks like it was an amateurish attempt which is what you would expect from someone who is frustrated and clouded by his hatred. He’s obviously never thought it through realistically.

Happened in the US, can't remember what the protests were, might have been last time Trump was in power. It was very comical but ended very badly for him, trashed his car then set it a light, think he took quite a beating as well.

I’m not blinded by hate, I’m just passing on what is actually being reported in the US across multiple media sites. However you have to understand some of the top US podcasts, earning the presenters an absolute fortune, are nothing more than conspiracy sites. These sites have millions of followers. The worrying thing is that it suits Trump to allow the Alex Jones, Joe Rogan, Laura Loomer’s of the world to do his bidding.
Has this latest event played into his hands regarding the ongoing ballroom saga, absolutely. That’s not conspiracy, that’s how he operates. I think people in the US have just got weary with the never ending drama and lies that surround him.
