I get that, but say we don't go up again, which is likely - How many of this current squad will get transfers away over the summer worth ten plus million a piece? I can't really think of any - other than potentially Giles and if we're lucky, maybe Hughes if a big club wants a development signing. Outside chance of Belloumi getting noticed as well I suppose. Some of them might be worth big money some day, but if we're talking about who had the stronger squad at the time, it's cut and dry as far as I can see.
The squad this season is a squad that barely survived last season, improved with some astute freebies. Recent drop in form aside, what Jakirovic has done this season when we were relegation favourites (and many of our fans thought so too) is genuinely phenomenal. It's frustrating right now, but every single one of us would snap hands off for this at the start of the season on honest reflection. By contrast Rosenior had us focusing on full possession and the expectation wasn't certain relegation at the start of the season. We squandered what we had at the time by playing far too conservatively and it cost us. This season it just feels more like we've run out of steam after probably overachieving - but that's thanks to some great work to build the squad we've got and thanks to the manager for getting so much more out of what we had left from the previous push.
