Just watching goals again. Ignoring the other goals which could be defended better. What was 09 doing for the last. Before the cross is delivered he looks to be in the correct position, Yet he ends up falling over seemingly reacting a second or two after Abraham and Hume who despite being behind 09 got closest to tackling Abraham. Aldarete, Ballard and Mukiele would all read the game better, react quicker and out muscle the forward. 09 at 5.10 is not physically strong enough.

Hands up here, I switched it off during the first half. Superstition made me try to repeat the mags match and it didn't work (obviously!). You can call me a pillock for doing it, I know it makes no sense but when does sense and logic come into being a football fan?

When I saw the score was 3-1 just after halftime I pretty much wrote the game off. When I saw we'd pulled it back to 3-3 I was over the moon. Superstition kept me from putting the game back on, then I saw we'd conceded again, which put me in a downer. Watching the highlights I'm more gutted but also more happy than I was. Villa are a very, very good team, favorites for the UEFA league and almost certainly in the Champions League next season. Definitely the third best team in the country and we went toe to toe with them and never gave up. I'd have taken a draw before the game as I honestly believe that this is/was our hardest game remaining this season.and wouldn't have been surprised if we'd lost. To lose the way we did is a sickener made worse by Diarra's miss. Why he tried that dink is only something he can explain but he should have scored or played Talbi in. If it goes in we win, instead straight down the other end for them to pinch it. The character we showed to get back level and almost win it is massive, though. It's what gives me hope for the rest of the season.

As gutting as the result is it's put me in great hope for the rest of the season. Forest are now 5 points ahead of Spurs, so Friday won't be easy but I'd still hope we can win then. Wolves are down now, but the question will be whether they go through the motions or relax and play without pressure? Again if be hopeful of winning there. Man U are pretty much in the Champions League next season, it would take a spectacular collapse to miss out but they're hot and cold and beatable. Everton like us are chasing a European spot but are only 1 point ahead of us now and again blow hot and cold and are beatable. Chelsea are in rotten form at the minute and are definitely beatable. None of the games are easy but I think we are capable of winning 3 of those. And I'll try not to be as superstitious next time!

Most of the obvious stuff has been mentioned in the seven goal Villa thriller.

For me, the better side won but we gave them a good game.
Our goals were all well taken.

I’m glad to see a lot of our throw ins are now going back to a free player rather than up the line where we usually lose possession (and if we do get possession we usually end up passing it back anyway)

Our passing, the through balls, crosses and forward passes, in the opposition half, were too often either over hit or wayward. That’s something to work on. Villa rarely made wasteful passes in our half.

Rigg really coming of age in the league now. That’s 4-5 good contributions in a row.

Big player next season be like a new signing.
The confidence he had to even attempt his shot was lovely to see.

A summer of bulking up and growing into his body and we will see the player that we know is there.

Its great to see him blossom and grow
