Went to intimate sell out gig in Haworth last night featuring Snake Davis and Helen Watson.

It was a sellout with all 28 tickets sold.
Pre concert curry laid on as well.

If you like a bit of sax on a Sunday.......
Sounds good, He's quite well known, how come he's playing to 28 people?

He comes here at least once a year. He enjoys the intimacy of it all and it's a meet and greet as well

It's in a coffee shop. No room for anymore.

I do wish he would stick to the sax and leave the vocals to others though.

He met up with Helen when touring on a Jo Cocker trip around Germany many moons ago so they do a few of these events each year.

Just been listening to a recent Georgie Fame cd, I wish he'd leave the vocals to others now :emoticon-0100-smile

Mum’s a huge fan of Snake Davis.
Goes to see him regularly.
Cracking saxophonist (EDIT - Snake Davis that is. My Mum is rubbish on the saxophone!)

My uncle organised a surprise night out in Leeds for my birthday treat (next month), went Saturday 4th 11 days ago. Turned out it was James at Leeds arena. They were absolutely amazing. I've always been a fan, but never got the chance to go, fabulous day out. Even better, my uncle and I were discussing of they had a support band. Suddenly, on walks a band, spot lights on, and its Doves (minus Jimi). I was ecstatic, they are such an amazing band, their set was incredible, Jez is a great singer too, so underrated. I know them quite well as I have worked with them before, super super nice guys. My uncle had never heard of them, despite listening to pretty much only indie music. He's now getting into them. Went to The Turks Head (Whitelocks), down an alley on Briggate, fabulous atmosphere, great drinks.

Got back to my uncles at midnight, get a call from my ex, my 8 year old has been rushed into hospital! Only had a few drinks, but wouldn't risk it and I was tired. Set off 7.30am to get back asap. Get to Abington (50 miles from Glasgow) and car packs in. Only bought it 3 months ago, but had a feeling the guy had sold me up the river. Another 5 hours to get home! Found out they were playing Glasgow a few days later. Would have loved to have gone again, but no car and sick kid meant big no no. Thankfully my wee girl has now recovered, but I will definitely be going to see James (and Doves) again.

Hope everything is O.K now, that must of been quite a traumatic night being so far away from the wee yin and not being able to get there straight away,my heart goes out to you.

You do seem to be going through a period of bad luck, following bad luck but be assured, things WILL change for the better.

Anyway, you and I will get a pint in Glasgow City Centre when the weather is a bit nicer and hopefully your luck has turned but in the meantime and by no means dismissing the gravity of the above situation but... For the James concert were you in the standing only area or did you 'sit down'???

Take care D.J:emoticon-0148-yes:

Hope he is OK. First went in Whitelocks in 1967. Was great then and still is. Have a photo somewhere of my grandpa sat outside as beer was delivered on a horse drawn trailer with hardly any buildings around it,

Thank you! Yeah we were "satdown" hahahha, wee one has come through last few days, car is dead, totally ****ed, to add to that my parents ****ed off and didn't tell me because they will be away for my big birthday. At least I can choose my friends, bonus!

Finally going to The Adelphi next Thursday, Dave McCabe from The Zutons is doing a acoustic gig there

I've seen gigs at Wembley Stadium, Etihad Stadium, Manchester Arena, Co-Op Live and Sheffield Arena, but despite living 10 minutes for the last 6 years from The Adelphi I've never been.
You’ll love it.
Don’t wear anything light coloured that doesn’t clean easily! <laugh>
I’ll be seeing Dave McCabe playing at the Tribute to Mani gig in Manchester in May
No idea who the headliners will be, if anyone, but it looks an interesting gig anyway so we grabbed some tickets.
Lunchtime until late…I’d best pace myself!!!

I was actually very lucky to know Mani quite well, what a character and I have a "great story", some may not appreciate it.

So I started off as a glass lifter in an indie club in Greenock, before falling into dj'ing. My pal was the main dj and had been for some time in the area. He had a band called "Whiteout", they were on the Word and were supposed to be the next "big thing", Oasis even supported them on a European tour around 89/90. So through that, he brought a lot of indie stars to the club, Mani being one of them. So Mani comes to dj in the club, downstairs the owners have a wine bar and restaurant. Mani arrives before lunch, we're sitting having a few drinks and I turn to Mani and ask "how do you feel about your first time dj'ing here", to which Mani rapidly replies, "oh no no no, I've dj'd here a few times before", "oh, I must have missed it". Turns out he had been shagging a bird from Clydebank and was using dj'ing here as an excuse. His Mrs was sitting right next to him when I said it, he brought her this time! I am so good at putting my foot in it.

Wanted to go see James on this tour, not seen them. But the only gig would could get to was the Liverpool one. Which happened to clash with Grand National Weekend. The cheapest hotel for one night was £350.

I've got tickets for that too.

Seen Cast three times and John Power once. I've never seen Tom Meighan or Peter Hook.

I'm hoping the headliners will be the three living Stone Roses with a guess basis. My guess is though it'll be Primal Scream.
