Two branch members, A&B, with adequate points, are looking at going to Wolves. A has the maximum points while B only has enough if tickets reach the final phase. 500 people apply for the final phase, including B, but 250 miss out including him. But A has to drop out at the last minute so gives his ticket and coach seat to B who had enough points for the final phase and applied for a ticket. By the T&Cs B could be ID checked, banned and lose his SC while A could be banned for passing on a ticket ...

... that's a regular scenario on branch coaches and, unless I'm wrong, hardly the crime of the century.
thing is the premier league rules are more strict on tickets everyone's name on ticket ect they trying to end the touts getting them

Yes mate, I understand the principle, but touts are something we've never had a big problem with.

Much of that is because, geographically, we're not a tempting prospect, and, tbh, I may live a sheltered life but I've never seen a Sunderland ticket sold on for more than face value.

If letting a mate or a relative have your ticket is illegal, it's a fair cop, I'm guilty.

I have mate.
The Wimbledon match at Selhurst Park in the 90s to stay up, I barely missed any game through the 80s and 90s but couldn’t get time off work till the last minute for the last game of the season. Outside 5 minutes after kick off I bought a ticket for twice face value off a Sunderland supporter, the tw@t. Only time I’ve ever known it mind.
Wimbledon rolled over for us and we still got beat. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I've just been sent this from RTG which might highlight what the ticket office manager seems intent on destroying.

I'm sure he means well but, sadly, he appears incapable of understanding the depth of support and fanaticism here.

The below is an E Mail I sent to employees of the club and LNER amongst others on 26 May 2025.

To protect the identity of all of those involved I have removed their names from this post.

Hi all

Well, we’ve finally reached the end of an absolutely fantastic season, with plenty of ups and downs along the way, but most importantly we have some absolutely fantastic memories for all of us and the time spent with family, friends and the wider Sunderland fan base makes it all worthwhile when we get to have days and weekends like we’ve just enjoyed.

I’d like to start by thanking club employees xxxxxxx, xxxxxxx, xxxxxxx and xxxxxxx (and many more that I’ve missed) for all of their work and assistance in getting the issues resolved that I (we) had at the start of the season.

Myself and xxxxxxx (family friend) had a very constructive and positive meeting with xxxxxxx and xxxxxx towards the end of September and that meeting proved a very worthwhile meeting for the club, myself, xxxxxxx and the branch overall. A number of suggestions were put to us by the club and a number of recommendations were made to us, which we have adhered to in full all season and will continue to do so going forward. The club also requested to use our intelligence and many years of experience having attended so many home and away games over many years and having had valuable and extensive experience over many years of the online ticketing system etc. Thanks to many examples of information gathering by various members of the branch, we were able to share valuable and helpful information to the club in attempts to eradicate misuse of match tickets (examples included fans purchasing away game tickets in phase one and putting them on social media to sell on even during the phase 1 stage) and the online ticketing error during the phase 1 sales period for the Play Off Final.

I (we) would also like to extend our thanks to LNER, and in particular, xxxxxx, xxxxxx, xxxxxx and xxxxxxx who helped me (us) with train bookings, onward travel when trains were cancelled (Cardiff City on the 1st game of the season springs to mind) etc. They were always available to help us out wherever possible. To put this in to context, we spent £104,292.50 with LNER during the 2024-25 football season.

Please can I personally thank every single member of the branch for their commitment, dedication and support over not just this season but many many seasons as it’s all of you who make this work with each and every individual contribution.

xxxxx/xxxxx/xxxxxx/xxxxxx – As the club moves to the new ticketing provider for the 2025-26 season, I offered to provide any assistance in testing the system prior to its implementation as I have many years of experience of the Ticket Master system and I’m convinced that I could help the club to eradicate a number of potential bugs/system issues prior to them becoming widespread. xxxxxxx advised me that xxxxxxx would be in touch with me as he thought that would be a very worthwhile process and it is something that hadn’t particularly been thought of at the time. I am more than happy to assist in any way that I can to hopefully assist all fans in a smooth ticketing experience. Please do reach out to me if this is something that the club would like to use my experience with.

Thank you

A few on RTG need to realise that Sunderland invariably ask for the maximum allocation because of the supporters who forward tickets, go with branches and other groups ...

... not despite them.

In every 3000 allocation, the majority will be taken by SC holders, who want to go, leaving a small percentage of people in branches, etc, who get tickets without always having enough points.

The ideal, for some people, would apparently be that the club asks for 2000 and every single one goes to valid SC holders with adequate points. FFS, quite often it's only because of exiles, branches, etc, who can arrange travel, travel, accommodation, etc, that we manage to fill the maximum allocations.

Even then out of every 3000 allocation there's probably only dozens that go to the stragglers ...

... without those people we'd start to see gaps in away sections.

This isn't ticket grooming on a vast scale, very few ever miss out on tickets in reality. If a 65yo, with points, finds they can't manage the longer away trips is it really so dreadful their nephew goes on their hard earned points? Let's get real, if an 18yo buys their first SC now if will be a decade or more before they have enough points for the majority of games. By which time they're probably out of the loop and unlikely to suddenly start going just when they have a decent job, mortgage, kids, etc.

It's obvious, if you travel away regularly, that selling 3000 tickets to 3000 individuals wouldn't regularly sell out. It's only because branches, pubs, groups, etc, have banded together for cost reasons that we invariably sell out maximum allocations. Seriously, if 3000 tickets went on sale for Brighton to individuals people would struggle to make independent arrangements especially if they go into the lower phases ...

... once the TV companies get involved it's incredible how we manage to sell out in my opinion.
And that there is a massive nail bang on. It is so clear and obvious, someone in an influential position needs to see it and digest it with an open mind

I don't go away now, but those few " spare" tickets are going to supporters and that's the key thing above all others. There's no racketeering going on, and it is seeding future interest.

This needs sorting.

RTG has quite a few who know Paul, appreciate the massive amount of work he's put in and how he's engaged LNER.

However there's a few who are coming on saying, "I don't know the facts but, There's no smoke without fire/both sides are in the wrong/the truth will be somewhere in the middle.

You'd think starting a sentence with the admission that you don't know what happened, would stop people making judgements ...

... sadly they just can't stop themselves.

They fail to realise no one is trying to convince them, no one cares what they think.

You were being accused of being a poster on that thread , not to worry a few of us jumped on the comments pdq and nipped that in the bud.

Thank you, that’s kind of you.

I do find it funny that, apparently ‘I was humiliated’ during the Dell takeover when they registered an office at the SOL and were waving to the crowd … Wimbledon at home iirc. Their proposals included extending the stadium, increasing quality corporate hospitality, going back to using the ship badge, installing bigger screens, improved sound and top notch internet, etc.

I remember starting a thread about Dell’s wish to use a simplified club crest/badge and I was the first person to ever mention it. I’d only been asked my opinion by their study group but they’d allow me to post things as a rapid way to ‘market research’ things.

That was a very popular thread, a couple of them created accounts and posted for a while …

… it was a dream come true for someone who got so close to the owners of the club.

Just a shame Donald blew it all.

Morning mate, hope you're sorted for Wolves.

I haven't looked at RTG but I assume @wearside wanderer II has had the decency to have apologised for accusing me of stalking him, surely he didn't just hide!

It's funny that I haven't posted on there for years yet still living in some loser's heads ...

... it must really aggravate them that decent posters seem to like me <laugh>

Incidentally the registered letter, to KLD in France, has been signed for so he now knows what's happened at the ticket office.

There’s just the usual numb nuts on RTG, but generally v supportive of P.

Had a long chat with him on Monday…

Cheers mate, I’ll let you know if any crop up.

Things are progressing and it’s good that KLD is now aware.

Fingers crossed common sense will prevail.

So far, according to what I've gathered, KLD has now received his registered letter, a club sponsor has contacted the club to say they'll withdraw funding, Peter Reid was messaged, etc. Someone is trying to contact Bob Murray who was always happy to help the branches and understood their worth. (If anyone has a contact I can gladly pass it on.)

Despite what the ticket office may imagine this isn't going to be allowed to just drift ...

... the lives of many decent supporters are being affected by people who have no idea about running a ticket office, let alone what the club means to those who've supported it for decades through the generations.

Absolutely disgusting, the club are flying, the future has never looked so bright.....why on earth would you alienate supporters, we're hopefully headed for a ground extension, everyone is needed.....more so WHY would you alienate the loyalist of supporters who stood with you through thick & thin, at the very darkest days this club has seen.

Im really at a loss the with the ticketing operation lately, do not understand how we're managing to get this so wrong, it will completely change who we are as a club

KLD urgently needs to get involved, the way hes come across during our growth I find it very hard to believe he would be in agreement with decisions lately.....ZERO common sense....ZERO compassion

Maybe because the people who are involved with ticketing are as thick as two short planks or are mag supporters or both.

If you want to move from hospitality to a normal season ticket, you're not permitted to downgrade. You have to cancel the hospitality one and then join the back of the waiting list. Realistically, you're unlikely to get one if you're at the back of the queue. As quoted above, long standing loyal supporters with a lengthy season ticket history and some with high loyalty points from aways are being shafted if they can't continue their hospitality season ticket.

Given the current economic climate, I think it sucks treating loyal supporters that way.

I've tried my hardest to get it sorted. I've badgered contacts that I know, but sadly it's not been fixed. I've taken so much abuse this last week about it, even though I've done as much as I can. It's been a really difficult week.
