I think we agree on most things but i think we differ on the clubs (and not just SAFC's)) ability to bridge the fiscal gap between the middle table clubs and the top six,I see it as a Sisyphean task and i think you may see it as a problem that Macgyver could solve provided we get the right people ,the right recruitment and sustained fiscal improvement in a incremental way!

I think we are at the beginning of our prem journey and we have a a mission statement/ethos to :identify young talent ,convince them to join the club with the promise of them moving on to a bigger club ,which will if done consistently well will keep us in the mid table sustainability zone for years to come .But until we massively increase our fiscal income and become a club that is not just a stepping stone where the finished article players want to come to play we will never bridge the gap.

In truth its going to be fun to see us try and given our recent history we are doing magnificently and i applaud all involved but i see a takeover (partial or otherwise )in the next five years and then we might just procure a winch for Sisyphus to get that boulder up that hill to see the sunshine and clear skies from the summit.!
No. I agree, The gap is unbridgeable. As you say, genuinely Sisyphean.

Maybe, like Albert Camus said, we should think of Sisyphus as a happy toiler, and enjoy the struggle!

Would love the rest of the clubs to just withdraw from the league and start a proper one with a salary cap set at a level everyone could realistically hit. Leave the 5 or 6 who have it sown up at the top to do their own thing. See how long they would last without the rest of us .

Can we have an Away game streaming site for members, say £5 nominal fee per game (I'd still want to try to go to the odd one with my son, but with my 5 BCP's I understand the maths).

Sadly I dont think Sisyphus would ever be a happy toiler as i think i would be a bit narked and angry and deffo not happy if Zeus forced me to hump that boulder up that hill for eternity.I see the safc massive as more akin to Boxer from Animal farm. But i get your point as being happy with your lot is a magnificent place to inhabit!
In truth the gap is unbridgeable as demonstrated by the unwashed as they haven't managed it yet even with all their financial clout so i doubt we will be able to do it anytime soon or later without a takeover of Gargantuan proportions and probably not even then.

A special episode of Total Sport from the AOL with interviews with RLB, Ghisolfi and O'Nien. About an hour and a half long before they start talking about that nice club which allowed us 6 easy points this season. Fast forward to the last 20 mins and they speak to Robin Nichols

Good listen that. Cheers for posting. Got some good people at the club.

I used to stand in the 'cage' with my school mates. Daft young uns thinking we were cool <laugh> I do miss the Fulwell End though, absolutely loved it in there!

I have to agree. We always stood in the same spot with people who's name we didn't really know but would have conversations about matches since the last home game and little in jokes and digs as if we had known each other for absolute years - good times
