Castro himself is a perfect example that age does not grant you wisdom.I'll bite.
Older does not equate to wiser, younger does not equate to clueless.
It's sad (and rather pathetic) that you think so.

Would that reason be the whiff of stale p!ss? If I ever got to the stage where I needed to be incarcerated in an old folks home,I'd cobble together every available drug from my rather large and impressive hoard, and throw the lot down my neck(washed down with an ice cold can of Inch's Cider)...No it’s a fact. Theres a reason Mi5 and Mi6 actively recruit from universities instead of old peoples homes.
You are OK if you have never saved anything, bought a house or are some non English speaker with no money.Would that reason be the whiff of stale p!ss? The money and large chunks of people's estates these places are taking is theft at best.
Yep,it's getting to the point where cash under your mattress and trying to put your property in your kid's names is the best option!!IYou are OK if you have never saved anything, bought a house or are some non English speaker with no money.
What interest rate does your Mattress pay ?Yep,it's getting to the point where cash under your mattress and trying to put your property in your kid's names is the best option!!I
Robbing, thieving bastards in the corridors of power nowadays looking to take everything you've ever earned off you.
Absolutely nothing but it's not at the mercy of Government snoopers and it's got the added bonus of me tossing about on top of it all night...What interest rate does your Mattress pay ?
Next time I see you I'll tell you the true story of ten grand stuffed under the mattress, and name names.Absolutely nothing but it's not at the mercy of Government snoopers and it's got the added bonus of me tossing about on top of it all night...
Over to you TwoWrights![]()
I'd need to nip down to Benson's For Beds and get a p!ss proof sheet before I stashed that amount under my bed..

It was tried during the riots. Think they did Greggs and Lush. High grade thinking round here.Anyone off up town to get some free stuff from the shops this Easter ? It’s on tv how to do it as in Clapham , looks easy .
Yes, but they aren’t all whit3 so no quick hauling into courts and immediate hefty sentences.Anyone off up town to get some free stuff from the shops this Easter ? It’s on tv how to do it as in Clapham , looks easy .

Nothing to see here. Been like that all through the 70's, 80's, 90's.Anyone off up town to get some free stuff from the shops this Easter ? It’s on tv how to do it as in Clapham , looks easy .
Shoezone and O2 also from memory...Young John Honey got banged away for 5 years for his philanthropic altruism. It was tried during the riots. Think they did Greggs and Lush. High grade thinking round here.
Correct, it would need modification to hold a water level in the River Hull and maintain water flow into the Humber. Also it isn't a lock so would close the river to all shipping.Because it will cause flooding further upstream, particulary as nearly all the floodplains have being built on is the short answer.
Tried it once in Driff,me and Dinny nicked a handful of fireworks from a shop(roughly in the vicinity of where Wetherspoons now sits?) and legged it round to the swing park to let them off. From memory I think we got one off and were watching it burst into flames when we both got grabbed by the scruff by the shopkeeper and dragged round to our Mams, stuck us in for having a cig too.Nothing to see here. Been like that all through the 70's, 80's, 90's.
Gangs of us just used to walk into Grandways, fill our rucksacks in plain sight with whatever we wanted and then just walk out without any bother.
I know you think you’re been hilariously clever but when this debate came up last time plenty of posters provided stats and evidence to show it was worse in the 80’s and 90’sNothing to see here. Been like that all through the 70's, 80's, 90's.

Perfect time ......said nobody on here ever. I honestly think you need to put your Guardian paper down and wake up to what's going on these days.I know you think you’re been hilariously clever but when this debate came up last time plenty of posters provided stats and evidence to show it was worse in the 80’s and 90’s
So a poster then decided to go back to the 60’s for that perfect time
Policing and Public Perception
- The 1980s: Society often felt "safer" to many despite rising figures, though this is heavily nostalgic. The 1980s actually had high rates of industrial unrest and inner-city riots.
- Now: Crime is lower, but public perception often suggests otherwise, fueled by 24-hour news and social media. There is a lower conviction rate for crimes compared to the 1980s.
- Police Methods: Modern policing relies on technology (facial recognition, extensive CCTV), whereas 1980s policing was more manual and, in some cases, seen as more heavy-handed.
5. Why Did Crime Fall?
- The 1980s/90s Drug Epidemic: Much of the surge in crime in the 80s was driven by acquisitive crime to fund drug addiction, specifically heroin and crack cocaine.
- The "Crime Drop": The steady, persistent decline in crime since the mid-90s is attributed to better home/car security, changes in drug use, improved economic conditions
