Would that reason be the whiff of stale p!ss? If I ever got to the stage where I needed to be incarcerated in an old folks home,I'd cobble together every available drug from my rather large and impressive hoard,and throw the lot down my neck(washed down with an ice cold can of Inch's Cider)...

The money and large chunks of people's estates these places are taking is theft at best.

Gangs of us just used to walk into Grandways, fill our rucksacks in plain sight with whatever we wanted and then just walk out without any bother.

Correct, it would need modification to hold a water level in the River Hull and maintain water flow into the Humber. Also it isn't a lock so would close the river to all shipping.

Tried it once in Driff,me and Dinny nicked a handful of fireworks from a shop(roughly in the vicinity of where Wetherspoons now sits?) and legged it round to the swing park to let them off.From memory I think we got one off and were watching it burst into flames when we both got grabbed by the scruff by the shopkeeper and dragged round to our Mams,stuck us in for having a cig too.

My arse still stings from that little caper and I've never blagged from a shop since :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I know you think you’re been hilariously clever but when this debate came up last time plenty of posters provided stats and evidence to show it was worse in the 80’s and 90’s
So a poster then decided to go back to the 60’s for that perfect time
