You wouldn't be the first or last.Yeah the fat cow did so I hid around the corner when I saw her - I was sober !
Good write up. Really needs a bloody good idea for the area. I would have never of said pull it down and start again now I’m not sure. It’s still ex dockland and usually a great area for investment. You must log in or register to see images

Got me thinking. Surely access to boats could be re engineered in this day and age?Prinny Quay themselves said they were make the ground floor entertainment and leisure, more food outlets. First opportunity they get and Iron Lillie's opens on the 1st floor
So go back to the plan of ground floor entertainment, close off access to the shopping area but keep access to the car park and cinema enabling it to open at night. Somehow draw in some more eating, drinking and gaming places. Now the old town and Humber Street/marina areas are booming it could be a link between the city centre and those places, also providing parking for them too.
As for the shops (????) I've always liked Prinny Quay far better than the icy cold wind tunnel of St Stephens, hopefully if they get they the bottom bit right it may draw others in.
For those who say knock it down, what to do with the dock then? There's no access for boats which is a shame.

It's been a long while since I've been there now, but The Gate in Newcastle is like this. 3 floors, bottom 2 were all chain bars and restaurants, with the top floor being a cinema. It was always absolutely rammed whenever I went (generally a Sat night). Think it was more compact than PQ thoughPrinny Quay themselves said they were make the ground floor entertainment and leisure, more food outlets. Something like that thing Middlesbrough has in auf weidershen would doAnother tunnel under castle st but for boats that would be impressive or maybe a bridge would be better.

Repurpose that Castle St underpass thing, fill it with water, Bob's your uncleSomething like that thing Middlesbrough has in auf weidershen would do![]()

Early Hull is interesting precisely because it’s so vague. The name ‘Hull’ isn’t attested until the 13th century when Longshanks acquired it and gave it a royal charter. Before then, it (Wyke) was a rather insignificant trading hub on the Humber; essentially a medieval service station for people sailing up the Humber and Ouse to York. Even the name ‘Wyke’ is insignificant. It’s from Old English wíc (settlement) or Old Norse vík (bay) but these are usually suffixes in place names e.g. Eoforwíc/Iórvík, Reykjavík, Gipeswíc, Norþwíc etc. It may have been *Hulawíc at one point but only the standalone forms of Wyke are attested. This is one of the best ones I've seen for presentation.
