good start to 2nd half then for some strange reason our lasses played with a buffer, so slow to go to the ball, always played it in the wrong direction...surprised they were not stuffed to be honest.

thought officials did nowt to help the game.

Them equalising was always on the cards they were fitter, stronger and superior to SAFC and deserved to win and will be disappointed to come away with a draw .as I said a while ago I think Mel Reay has taken us as far as we can go and a change is well well overdue . I think Steff Houghton would be an ideal replacement “ leading from the front “ as per her autobiography .

You'd think another season in the Prem would allow the club to invest a couple of million into the lasses team.

It will be interesting to see if we can bring in the massive sponsorship that Bruce is looking for. The team are doing all they can to put us up there as an attractive prospect, and the fans too for that matter.
Newcastle are relatively a new team as compared to ourselves yet our record is won nil drawn one lost three against the visitors , -against the newcomers is that considered acceptable I think not , no I don’t think I know it not to be acceptable when you consider where we were in comparison to where they were - we need to be better.

I get the impression that Newcastle's are better funded than our lasses so there's a limit on us because of that. They are still giving it a good go. A bit more given from the men's team but also the lasses' team probably need to bring in more money themselves. Is the attraction there to bring in more fans? Are fans more willing to put cash into the men's side instead?

I think both the lasses and U21's would get a better support if they played their games in Sunderland over Hetton.

Hard fought draw against a side that has had a lot more invested in it than we have. They had an ex-England International running their midfield and the luxury of being able to bring an ex-USA International on from the bench.

They looked like a team. We looked like 11 individuals. That, for me, is down to the coaching and a lack of investment. A few of the Lasses look comfortable with the ball at their feet (Watson, Kitching, Fenton), but a lot didn't. Paxton had an excellent debut.

As someone who has followed the Lasses since the time when Beth Mead was coming through, it's sad and alarming that the standard of player we had then was far better than we have now. Tori Williams, Steph Bannon, Rachel Furness, Brooke Chaplin and Beth Mead were head and shoulders above anything we have now. The double demotion by the corrupt FA cost us badly, but I still don't think that we can use that as an excuse. In fact, the team we had after that, who were romping the league below the WSL2, had much better individual players than we have now, with the likes of Charlotte Potts, Claudia Moan, Maria Farrugia, Mollie Lambert and Brigit Galloway.

I live in hope that we will get the outside partnership that we are actively seeking, which will allow us to invest in the squad, but like some others have mentioned, I feel like a change of coach is needed if we are looking to step up. Mel has done well in sometimes difficult circumstances, but for someone who has been at the club for so long, our team looks disjointed and devoid of ideas.

Well done lasses for today and hope that some of you are a major part of our improvement as a team over the coming years.

I agree with you mate, but when Eppleton was being redeveloped, the team ended playing their home matches up at Hebburn Town's ground, so I'm unsure where in Sunderland they would be accommodated.
