The game is won in both boxes, we’ve no fit defenders left, and no proper strikers who score goals. The best manager in the world would struggle with that combination. That’s not down to the manager, it goes to the people at the top. In January we could all see we needed to use some of the Semenyo money to add depth and quality to the squad. What did we do?, sell our best players TO RIVALS, what do you expect, I for one feel sorry for Struber. Our owner doesn’t like popular managers who know more than he does, and tells it as it is, he has a record of stitching them up like kippers, Cotts, NP, and now Struber. It’s SL’s MO
If we would have kept both Vyner and Anis I doubt we would not have had Eile (not sure about Hovart as he would have been joining summer anyway)
So we would have been with one defender anyway. As both the Robs were after January window.

Maybe Anis going speeded up Hovart joining or not. But I would have expected more not till the summer.

In my opinion we should have went two at the back rather than sticking to the three we always did. Pring not the player he was, alongside Eile (fitness an issue with Pring) with Borges left back and McCorie or Tanner right back. Then we could have gone two up front. Just going a 4-4-2 could at least have players in correct positions. We’ve gone two months round pegs in square holes.

I don’t claim to be a coach or know much about tactics, but with only one fit CB, and him not being dominant in the air, doesn’t going four at the back expose us aerially at CB ? , who would you put as 2nd CB next to Ellie?

Hollywood needs to come calling because surely by now our ineptness and apathy have become an international joke. Seriously we have become a laughing stock and I remember one commentator from (Leeds?) whilst at Ashton Gate wouldn't stop asking why we are such a poorly run club with a stadium that screams for the Premier League. We have the crowds and the stadium and over the years we have had close to the team personnel kicking the ball but sadly one person has let us down in the better players on board department. Maybe Hodgson is here for the obvious reason that there are no more fall guys left that would ever want to manage in BS3, but if he helps us choose the right general manager or director of football then his tenure may not be in vain. Someone needs to right the sinking ship before it disappears from sight but whoever that fool is he needs to get full support from Lansdown and I can't see that happening especially when you consider that most failures lie at his doorstep based on our/his history. <doh><steam>

The trouble is that whilst smaller clubs like Bournemouth and Brentford have revelled and thrived in their Premier League position and there’s the possibility of Wrexham joining them, there are lots of clubs like us, or bigger, that would crave the rich and famous taking an interest in them
We’ve got something to offer potential buyers but so have lots of others

Wrexham will never be repeated. They’ve hit something to raise interest in the states.
Bournemouth took a massive chance that if failed would have ruined them.
Brentford was and is a good model.

All of them took their chances when they came along even though they were different to each other
Birmingham are yet to realise their high profile ownership
Do we have a hope of ever emulating any these clubs to any degree ?
Doubtful I’d say

Numerically its an extra defender. Its an extra player to tuck in, get compact or mark/double up v opposing forward. Pring could play centre back.

Doesn’t playing with 3 CB’s and two wing backs mean the wing backs drop back whilst out of possession to create 5 at the back?, I’m not being critical, just as explained not an expert, just trying to understand.

So that is a back five, not a four, or a three. The original three are exposed so you drop two players in to make it a five. Similar can be done by playing 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 etc.

According to rumour from the press conference, Hodgson was unaware of the injury crisis we have in defence when he agreed to take over
Roy has also admitted that he has no idea where we are in the table
FFS mate, you were appointed last week, there’s no excuse for such a hands off approach
If true it’s yet another awful situation at Bristol City !
