Riggy is, in my opinion, growing up physically, mentally and skilfully into an outstanding player
Rigg, the manager and the club have really impressed me with all of this.

The player could've sulked, the manager given in and the club thinking about the consequences.

Above all Rigg has taken the time, and opportunity, to learn from the likes of Xhaka, listen to the coaches and prepare his body for the fact he's still developing physically. At one time a 'prodigy' would've been flung in to the first team for short term gains irrespective of the long term effects.

As you've said he'll be outstanding ...

... and he seems to know it.

A couple of things to note, as part of my job I have been to Newcastle, Gateshead, Hebburn, Jarrow South Shields and I haven't seen one barcode top since Sunday. I haven't seen a Sunderland one either, that's because we are humble in victory and not because we are a deluded set of arseholes who think football owes us a living. Since they won the Energy Drinks Cup, there have been two mags flying their flags in their gardens in Jarra. I can confirm that one is no longer visible, I will try and report on the other later.
Update the other is still visible but is limp and dirty, a bit like them really

I wonder how Newcastle feel that Tonali, their biggest miss in the derby, played almost the entire game in Italy.

I'd have been quite angry if Ballard missed a Sunderland game and, a few days later, was running around in a World Cup game.

Can't see Rigg being first 11 with Diarra, Hume and Traore on the bench.
He had a very good game Sunday but so far this season that's pretty much it. Let's not get carried away.

He was our best player the week before against Brighton too. I'm happy to give Rigg every minute from now till the end of the season. Give him that real taste of the premiership now that there's is absolutely zero chance of us going down. I'd much rather see Chris Rigg learning his trade and going into the summer break with a clear mindset of what he has to do to remain at that level. His development has stalled for about a year now and he needs games to kick on again. I definitely think its more beneficial than playing Hume at right wing. Nowt against Trai at all but he ain't gonna play there long term might as well try and bring on our next superstar.

Good watch that. Would've liked to see their disallowed goal, I thought the ref disallowed it and not var but watching the highlights sober they seemed to celebrate longer than I remember they did on the day so not sure.

Yeah would have liked that too.

Would have been interesting hearing him explain it like he did goals etc..

I think he disallowed it just took him a little bit to make the decision, usually with var there would be more standing around waiting

Watching the game back it was remarkable how, for the disallowed goal, Alan Smith immediately said,
'Well it can't be for offside' then followed up with 'Sunderland have got away with one there'.

When the replays clearly showed it was not only offside but he was blocking the sight of the keeper it was ignored.

When it was clear Newcastle were struggling to match our tactics they started stated trotting out the stats about how many games Newcastle will have played by the end of the season ...

... fair enough but it's not the end of the season, so far there's only been 31 league games <doh>
