You ignored key word mismanagement Jay. If you play a CM at LB what do you think will happen???

He got called up for England playing there last season - and whilst he was a bit shaky on 1v1s last season also, he played well.
He has not been as good this year - had plenty of chances to play - and underwhelmed. Hence he is not getting a look in. That's good management.
Sure, I would like to see him in midfield too, maybe at some point he will get that chance, but he needs to keep his mouth shut and his work rate up. I would freeze out any player at the first sign of whining. No room for it.

Yes he did get an England call up, but that was more because he was doing a decent job and its a big club like Arsenal. Pretty sure if he was doing the same job for Fulham he wouldn't have been called up, he wasn't excellent, he was still defensively a liability.

Not the most reliable source ever and there's probably like a 5% chance of it happening as he is probably looking for improved contract terms - but man, this would be some signing if we could make it happen:

Most rumours at this stage of the season are media stories designed to unsettle our players.

Plus we know Berta contacts multiple targets, before narrowing it down - so be prepared for another window where we get linked to every forward and midfielder under the sun.

I would love us to sign a first choice CF. But in truth there's just a lack of quality out there in this position right now.

Kane and Lewandowski are old.
Halland and Mbappe are both at top clubs on enormous wages.
Dembele has scored big numbers since being converted to a number 9. At PSG though & on big wages.

Osimhen - There's a lot of talk about him being a nightmare to manage. Has ability for sure.
Alvarez - I would like him in the squad, he's an excellent finisher but I still think we need more of a target man/traditional CF.
Isak - 12 months ago people were talking about this guy being the best CF around. He cant be happy with his game-time under Slot. But what would be the cost?.. would Pool take a significant transfer hit on this one?

I'd take Kane for £30-40m. Couple of seasons left in him. Would be great bantz to do a semi-Campbell v2.

Osimhen is a dickhead and I got my fill of those back in the day with Auba, Laca, Guendouzi etc. No thanks.
Alvarez... if we sign him, I'll convince myself he's world class. But something about isn't quite right. Not overly convinced and he'll be at least £100m.

I think getting goal threats in the positions behind the striker is more important than getting one worldie striker, who doesn't seem to even really exist and/or be available anyway.

Saka can theoretically do it and we just have to hope this season has been a gash one-off for him rather than his new norm. Eze just started upping his G/A so they're both theoretical goal threats. Get a genuine worldie threat on the left (Yildiz or pipedream Khvaratskelia please) and then we'd have goal threats from all angles.

Saka will get back - but it may take another 5-6 months.
I would be happy if we signed Kvartschelia - I think having atop class wide player on either wing would make up for the lack of quality strikers.

Reports from various sources that Lewis-Skelly is of interest to Manchester United - and the interest is genuine.

I'd be fuming if we let this happen. Under no circumstances should he be allowed to leave. This is a someone with the qualities of being a TOP player for the future and I'm still a bit bemused at his lack of minutes this season.

But we absolutely should not be letting him go to Manchester United.

He has beenb out with a broken leg so Slot gets a pass on this one <laugh>

We often have no choice.
This is what happens when you create a squad with players who expect to start, 2 deep in each position.
It is not possible to maintain and needs to be continually recycled.
It's why it is a dangerous strategy that can back fire by creating disharmony in the squad.
Every player who loses the competitive battle to start will leave - unless they are old and at the tail end of their careers or just in their first year as a youngster.
I expect a lot of this squad to be gone in the next couple of years - including the likes of MLS, Nwaneri, Mosquera, Hincapie, Califiori etc .. unless they win starting spots, in which case the likes of Saliba, Gabriel , etc will be gone.

It definitely won't be that.
Jesus is seen right now as a bit part player and is used that way.
There is no way Alvarez is coming in for a huge fee to play the minutes Jesus is getting.
I don't think Jesus would be a bit part player if he was performing better. (and we say that when he first came back from Injury) I think they're would be much more rotation.

Everything I've seen is simply reports that Man Utd have discussed MLS internally and that he's on a list, not that they've spoken to us about signing him. Which basically is a nothing-burger of a story. I'm sure Man Utd quite like the look of 1000 players... doesn't mean they're getting anywhere near them.

Can you honestly see Arsenal selling one of our top young, English propects? Would not be good optics, if nothing else. The only way this happens if if he pushes to leave like that Chido Obi dude who's career already looks shot to pieces. And if he does push to leave, at the age of 19, after ONE season of not that many starts, then jog on Myles.

If he is not playing and wants to leave because of it, then it will happen.
What's the point of players who are not playing - if we get a good fee for him, then it makes sense all round.

If Jesus was consistently performing to his best and was not so injury prone, then Gyokeres would be back up too (or wouldn't have been bought)
Rotation will always happen but there is still a starter and back up and the starter will play a lot, compared to but parts from the back ups.

I just don't think Alvarez will come here to get Nketiah minutes for Arsenal or Jesus minutes this year - and we wouldn't buy him for that.

.

I think Alvarez would start just as many game as Gyok just would change dependent on the opposition. They could also play together obviously.

I rate Alvarez but as I said earlier I would prefer a more traditional CF - Havertz and Merino have both shown they can do the false 9 thing for us.
