Thing is, Christianity, Islam, even Judaism are all still relatively young in terms of this planet and the existence of all of its indigenous peoples ... if those events in the middle-east were really so important to humanity's future, you wonder why 'God' didn't just put ethereal Big Screens up around the rest of the world so that everybody on the planet could watch and take note?
Just saying
I don't think I've truly ever tried to make sense of any claims within religion. Example: It's fascinating as a kid to know that animals went on the Ark and then the big floods came....
It's a story, humans are good at creating stories.
In fact humans are so good at creating stories that they worship them. That's not even me dismissing religion nor mocking it. I believe you should respect religion, whatever religion.
For me it's about respect, and teaching oneself respect, no matter your age, learn.
If I go into a church or cathedral it's to admire the architecture, it's age, its grandeur, it's peace, it's solitude, time to pause and reflect. Not sure that's the core principles of prayer though.
It should be a place of safety to, but sadly humans have butt ****ed that one into oblivion.
So what do I believe, I believe in something greater than I could ever imagine (non human). Seeing the wonders of nature, seeing the wonders of the universe especially in the todays age is just mind boggling, fascinating.
People often say why does God allow xyz if he truly exists, have we not seen what a hostile, destructive, hellish place that is the Cosmos, yet from it comes the beauty of everything, but it's just easier to blame someone else I suppose for human failings.
We know the answers to nothing, but like to think we know the answers to everything, when we die will we find out, who knows. Tongue in cheek sudden thought, if you ****ed around, you find out.
My brain says it would love to know, but would it, really, that could be like finding aliens and regretting what we find. But i'm ready for the journey, not afraid, it's what's in the soul that matters, at peace with oneself, bring it on.
I prefer life at a slower pace now, I find humans too self absorbed. Quick google is prayer self-absorbed? Prayer is not inherently self-absorbed, but it can become so if focused exclusively on personal desires rather than seeking God's will.
So if you can find yourself 5 mins of solitude or prefer the mass thing, why not pray it's got to be better than a lot of other pointless stuff that humans trouble their minds with in life.
End of todays sermon. Amen. Going to make a cuppa now.
