Question for y'all

How many STHs on here apply for away tickets and don't get them? How often?
Haven't even tried, only have 6 black cat points and dont expect to get many more as away games are nigh on impossible to attend due to home life.

Have no issue with the lads and lasses that go week in week out all over the country getting the tickets, they put in some serious dedication and money, so should get them imo

My tickets are sorted by the guy in question . Have been for a few years now and once its purchased goes straight into my account. Digital tickets. I and my son and grandson use them. We've had an id check at Man City which is fine rocked up with id no issues. Bournemouth away ended up not being able to go due to a sudden family issue. Black cat point deducted for non attendance and non use of ticket. No problem with that at all, but it shows my ticket wasn't passed on. No way should all tickets have been removed and even then why not say come to Sol with id and we will reinstate. A lot of very genuine supporters who have travelled away and not missed games for over 3 yrs suddenly get their mags tickets revoked. Thats just not fair at all and very poor from Safc. I'm seriously considering not renewing my 3 season cards because of this. Disgusting.

Personally I think they should bring back the ability to apply without the required points and still awarded a point if unsuccessful but with an obligatIon to buy if tickets become available.

The trouble with that was people would just apply for everything to get the point, even if they had no intention of actually going.

Off the top of my head, we've got about 29,000 season ticket holders. As an extreme example, if every ST holder applied for every away game, then you've got 29,000 people on maximum points most of whom have never have attended an away game!

OK, I'm gonna comment. If you're uber-mean, I'll go away

So I've had some away tickets from this guy over the years - perhaps 2 or 3 per season. Of course this is against the rules. I don't have a season ticket because it would be impossible for me to get to SoL on a regular basis, since it's 4h from my home. I did have a season ticket for a number of years - I had no children then and a company car with paid for petrol. I would happily pay a membership fee for 2nd dibs on away tickets after STHs, but no such scheme exists

The complaint is that a) there was (as far as I know) no warning, no "we're watching you, don't do it again" b) lots of people (like the guy above) who were entitled to tickets and only using this guy to do their admin have lost their Mags tickets c) THE TICKET OFFICE HAS ABSOLUTELY ALWAYS KNOWN THIS IS HAPPENING.

It's this guy's whole social life. He made no money out of it. He must be in a very dark place today
Well said mate.

"So I've got a ticket for Sunday what happens if I fall sick or I have to work or have a family emergency.how do I contact the club .what do I do .I can't pass it on .I can't sell it .there is no resale website .the only ticket in the world u can't resell .what a load of bullshit .I've got to lose 31 quid .there should be a list where fans who want tickets can put there name down and if any tickets are handed back they get them .that's too hard for the clowns who run safc ticket office .all they want is all the tickets gone money in and wash there hands of them .can anybody who knows somebody in the club screenshot this to them who is not useless and before anybody else gets a banning order from the club."

The club need taking to task over this. We rightly praise the many positive steps that are being taken, but the ticket office/ supporter experience side is really poor. If the lad has given tickets to people without the right points then fair enough, the club has to do something. But a 2 and a bit year away ban is harsh. In fact, if demand doesn't drop, it's virtually a permanent ban because he'll not have enough points after it to get tickets. That's a huge overreaction.

And as for the people who get him to purchase their tickets because he gets cheap train tickets. Many of whom have the right number of points, they go on their own customer number. Taking their derby ticket off them is beyond pathetic. The club could have done an enhanced check for the next away game after the mags (because doing it for that one is probably a logistical nightmare) but why just cancel tickets now and cost people a huge game? Absolutely shocking and I hope it isn't dropped

Thing is mate, no one is happy with the ticket office no what your position is.

Every aspect of buying or transferring tickets seems clumsy and complicated.

People are annoyed and I've just been told that KLD has been informed by a group of long standing supporters.

Other people in the club have been contacted and the press notified.

This won't be allowed to fade away in my opinion.

The worst thing about all this, is for all the great things the club have done and continue to do, the ticket office has been a constant shambles.

Its often the first port of call when dealing with the club and its by far the worst performing.

Look at the mess they made of next seasons renewals, wrong prices and people having to reapply and wait for refunds, absolute amateur hour.

Now we have people in entry level corporate being told if they dont renew they go to the back of the queue for normal season cards and to top it all off this car crash of a situation with the branch and 65 tickets.

The senior leadership team need to get a grip of this, as when results on the pitch turn, its the hardcore that will be there through thick and thin and the club will need them

The guy in question has helped me out a number of times - it`s not that I don`t have the necessary points - I`m just bloody busy and struggle to find the time to get in on time and grab the ticket that I can get...if I can`t get to a home game (3.5 hr each way) then I`m more than happy for him to find a fan to take my seat...I`d guess that a few of those who have benefitted are on here. On the odd occasion I need an extra one (last weekend I needed 2 "spares" as me, brother and son scattered Mum and Dad`s ashes in the North East so we all travelled and got to the match) he`s been able to help.

I think it`s a real shame...

There aren`t many like him.

On a tactical level, however, I think that it would be best for people to try and use and "back channels" rather than to confront the club head on - it`s likely to be much easier for them to reverse any decision in private than as a result of any public complaint. Based on what I`ve been told, there are enough people helping with back channels that he has a decent chance (maybe he`ll have to ride out the balance of this season). I don`t think that the club will change based on a public onslaught - if there is a breach of the rules...how can they?

Does anyone have a box? I`m reasonably sure anyone can be invited to them...

Haven't been able to get one all season
Same. Applied for a few. Not been able to get one myself since league 1. Have been helped out by (I am guessing) the lad @Smug in Boots is talking about (or some olive).

Club are flexing now they don’t “need” this, as you say smug, they’ll come back if we get relegated

I've been told Nick Barnes, and others, are now looking at this and how the ticket office are operating ...

... apparently someone who's been in 'corporate' for years is now being shunted to the bottom of the waiting list. He's put a lot of money into the club but has now retired, sold his business and can no longer afford a box ... he has no clients to entertain so just wants a SC, which you'd think would be simple.

Someone in one of the Durham branches knows Bob Murray and he's been contacted. Bob knew the value of the branches and would always bring, or send, players to branch events, etc. Over the decades branches have had to share buses, when not enough people wanted to go, or help with seats when too many wanted to go.

Currently if 500 people go to Brighton, just before Christmas, with branches there's bound to be a few without adequate points. But they're not buying tickets on the black market, or Facebook, they're almost always taking tickets from other branch members who can't go or aren't going.

If the branches die there may well be those 500 Brighton tickets available to individuals with enough points ...

... are they going to arrange travel, accommodation, etc, to journey down alone, not a chance.

The branches, and other groups, have had to jump through endless hoops, with Sky TV matches being moved, etc. They've found ways to do it and organised discounts with coach firms, LNER, etc, to make it affordable. As people have said, on here, without that help they simply wouldn't go.

The club need to be very careful they don't alienate the same supporters they'll need if we go down and those clamouring to go to new grounds like Everton, Spurs, etc, suddenly aren't quite so bothered.

A lad I work with moved into Quinny's bar this season with his young lad, his season ticket alone went up £200 so he thought about moving but he was then told he would go to the back of the queue for season tickets which is not on. As his little lad enjoys going to the match, I think he's had to bite the bullet and renew.

He did tell me that this season, they got access to away tickets for games but the requests for them from corporate section went through the roof so I think they're only going to the 76 Yards corporate now

Mine is a different problem
I’m my brothers personal assistant (although you don’t have to name your personal assistant}
He now dost fit the criteria So according to safc I’ve never had a ticket I’m named on the ticket even though for many years I’ve attended home nearly every game over the past 10/15 years and beyond and many away matches
My situation now is I have to apply through the waiting list to get a season ticket (that I have already been named on for years)
Wish me luck
However I’m not holding out for any ticket in the near future

Just a little foot note 74 years old now been to home and away all my life now I’m on a waiting list
No waiting list in the 70s 80s 200s when I had all my season tickets

Good luck mate, as you know I've already had this hand delivered to Chris Waters so fingers crossed.

Lots of other people are having problems, so you're not on your own.

'Strength in numbers' mate.

My brother has tickets for him and his kid in Quinns, can't afford to renew at the increased rate even on the direct debit scheme it's about £700 each time.

The club shouldn't be punishing loyal fans that can't afford to renew where they are due to price rises, especially if they are willing to sit elsewhere to continue their support of the club.

Once the renewals are sorted, there should be a small window open to anyone who wants to move seats. And at the rate existing season card holders get too.

It's not that hard to do.

What an imbroglio this all is!
I go regularly, but don't have an SC now. I'm on with a couple who cant get to games all the time.

I did this myself for years, buy an SC but make barely half of the matches. I used to put in the hands of a mate who would make sure it got used by someone interested, often someone who might not have had the coin to go otherwise.

One of these lads is grown up now, has an SC and is one of the people I'm on with. (They did the sorting out !). A bit of karma there I suppose. He's a cracking lad, works away a fair bit now and hence the ticket.

This used to be so, so easy to do.

Going to the odd game will soon become the preserve of students, office workers and people on computers all day.

That's fair enough but we've all seen grounds like Liverpool half full of bemused looking Chinese people who thought they were in Old Trafford ...

... I suppose the clubs don't care because of the money they're coining in.

I was at Watford, for the 'Sunderland's staying up - Mags going down' match.

There were three lads, on the platform back to London getting changed into brand new Spurs shirts.

They left their Watford gear on the waiting room benches <doh>
