My story, and I can only emphasise what he says in the video. If it ain't normal, get it checked out.

Last November had my annual COPD lung scan in a mobile scanner parked up at Lidls. A couple days later , receive a phone call, we want to another scan. Quickly followed by an an appointment with a lung specialist. During the course of the questions and answers, he asked if I had any other medical problems. Yes, I think I have irritable bowel syndrome. What makes you think that? My pooh isnt quite the same. His ears prick up at this.
Get home and within a couple of hours a knock on the door. The full package, instructions, potion to mix up and take 24 hours befoe a colonoscopy.
Bottom line. Two months to the day from Lidl car park I am told I have inoperable, incurable bowel and lung cancer. My general health would not tolerate surgery, nor any aggressive interventions. Palliative care only.

If you are fit and seemingly healthy, and something just ain't right. Get to a doctor
Very sorry to hear that mate, a bit of a wake up post on a football message board on a Thursday morning.

That's rotten, you have my sympathy.

Obviously we have spoken about your condition previously during a private message but don't you think that in most cases, and by the time a G.P finally decides he's seen and heard enough of you and refers you to the appropriate department,in many cases it's too late?

That aside,I hope you are having a 'good day' if that makes sense.

No, I dont think so. Dont mess about with telephone appointments. go to the surgery and tell the receptionist your problem. Either arrange a phone back to discuss it, or ask for an urgent appointment. Depending on your symptoms and how much you want to tell the receptionist, you should get one or the other.
If there is already blood on the paper when you wipe ya bum, dont be shy. Tell the receptionist. You will jump the queue with that.

Bowel resection was out of the question for me with the COPD. But if your general health is good, there is probably a solution.

sorry to hear that
i think the advice is great but we are also hit with the opposite and stop wasting doctors time for things a chemist can see you for , etc and people genuinely dont know what to do for best sometimes , especially as it can be such a battle to even get through in a morning to stand half a chance of seeing a doctor
hope you are as well as you can be .

I had a colonoscopy due to heavy blood loss back in November and they removed some polyps but apart from that everything seemed in order. To be fair once they suspected something wasn't right at my G.P' they referred me immediately(obviously the waiting list was fairly lengthy but it was dealt with in the end) so I can't gripe about that.

Your message is strong and 100% correct regarding any blood loss from any orifice, yes, get it checked immediately.

With regard to other general ailments, the favoured approach from my surgery seems to be painkillers, and the vast majority of conversation is over the phone with most of them(that's after you go through a form of triage with a nurse, who then gets the Dr to phone you). It's extremely difficult to get a face to face where I live but that could be solely down to budgets from the devolved parliament up here.

I think this seems to be the norm with most surgeries in my area and it results in packed A&E Departments rammed with people who have tried to go through the appropriate channels but have failed and see the local Hospital as their only hope.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts and opinions through my own experiences and they are in no way detracting from the gravity of your situation...You're going through a tough battle and my heart is with you.

No words worth that much from an anonymous forum user, but hope you enjoyed most of the healthy times and stay strong until the end, mate.

Unquestionably you have everyones best wishes. I've been thinking for a month or two that all is not well in the plumbing area Asterix, so whilst I am sorry for your situation a huge thank you for giving me the slap I needed. None of us are Bullet proof. Stay strong mate.

Not a huge fan of the expression if it saves just one life it's worth it but in this case it's absolutely right. A big shout out to Asterix for putting it out there.

That's a truly nightmare situation - hopefully your sad tale will stick in the minds of everyone who's read it and prevent others from having the same tragic outcome.

Follow the man's advice and go to the Dr's.It's not overly pleasant getting a finger up your backside, but it only takes about half a minute and it tells them so much.I had similar issues 5 or 6 years ago, went to Dr,said it felt normal but I passed blood in my urine sample and he embarked on more tests..

All good, benign but had enlarged like most gentlemen's of a certain age do....Don't put it off!!!
