General knowledge, is mostly acquired with age - I have quite a broad range of general knowledge but, my g'kids know far more about modern culture, pop, films etc etc; it's all knowledge, just different to mine. PS I can name one Taylor Swift single, Cruel Summer - only 'cos I like it!
I'm an old fuddy duddy as I remember the Bananarama song with the same title :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Nobody's making them come back.
Cue lots of gofundme's, 'please help me pay my extortionate tax bill' :emoticon-0102-bigsm
Most of what’s written in the UK press about the current situation in Dubai is bollocks. My daughter has lived there for ten years, now married to a Brit and we’ve two lovely granddaughters both born there. First few days of the war was quite frightening because of the numerous explosions in the sky from intercepted missiles but last few days been very quiet. They’re going on holiday to Vietnam tomorrow, been booked for months, and flights have been going to schedule the past week. It was her birthday yesterday and she went out last night with a group of girlfriends into one of the many nightlife areas, she said the whole area was packed. There’s more danger on the roads there, they all drive like idiots.
We go out there three times a year, most of the people we come across are just hard working families from lots of different countries (but mostly from UK) and I’d be happy to go there tomorrow.

On the odd occasion ,you do see some really intelligent youngsters.I've seen a few getting 8 or 9 then going on to hold a team together and accumulate the majority of points gathered in the final round.I'm guessing that the ones like that simply live and learn and ask questions...not a bad trait,it's lovely to see :emoticon-0148-yes:

I've got a grandson who's 8,bit of a toe rag at times and has some form of tourettes, swears at random?

Always asking questions and just the other day he was asking my wife how her parents had died? She told him that they both had died of lung cancer, questions followed...What's that, where's your lungs, couldn't they just take them out, can't you live without them, couldn't they have taken just one out, would they live with just one etc, etc.

She said "Well yes,it's possible to live with one but it wasn't feasible as it had progressed too far'....Next question and I sh!t you not," Can you live with just one testicle"?:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

After that I'd describe him as a bit of an oddball:emoticon-0103-cool:
Knowledge and education are not the same as intelligence.

I've met a lot of well educated idiots and a fair few intelligent uneducated people.

It's not what you know, it's how you apply it.

I'm not intelligent enough to know the difference :emoticon-0101-sadsm

My old man was extremely well educated and intelligent but had absolutely no common sense.

I'm not in Dubai just now but I was living in Kuwait in 1980 when the Iran/Iraq thing kicked off. The locals made a killing from expats buying 4WD's, heavy duty camping gear, jerry cans and what have you so they could all leg it across Saudi Arabia. :emoticon-0116-evilg
We shouldn't be complacent but just a little foresight and common sense wouldn't go amiss.
