Think rigg needs to play, bottom of league 1 and could rest Xhaka. Still go fairly strong and get it killed off early and them bring some younguns on

We forget how young Rigg is sometimes. He looked tiny when he come on the other night and had no shoulders at all hardlys. He seriously needs to work on bulking

Great thread as always RTB thank you. Hoping for a comfortable win but its the FA Cup and its not usually like that. Rest a few but go strong. This is a great chance to get in the Q.F. draw. No xhaka to start bring him on if needed. A rest for Hume & Sadiki. Sadly not going to make this one as down with a chest infection that i just can't shake off. Let's have a fast start get 2 or 3 ahead and take things easy. Safe journey to all travelling and enjoy yourselves lads and lasses. Haway the lads.

That pitch is atrociously bad, obviously need to get a good few of the under 21 playing, but not until 3 goals up, i really want a cup run to rub the mags noses in it, never seen a mackem in Milan. Its time to show these filthy twats we mean business, and here is a good chance to get the reserves squad and some players hungry for that chance. like to see Tuterov given a 30 min cameo,

As much as this looks an easy tie there are always potential banana skins in the cup, I think RLB is making all the right noises about treating the competition with respect.
For me I will go for a 0-3 scoreline and 0-2 at half time when I think some changes may be made.
On another note, and maybe it's just me but how have the FA in this country allowed the cup to be so devalued.
This is the FA Cup which I believe is the oldest competition in football. And bradcasters and journalists treat it like its a side thought to the season.
I still remember the good old days when excitement built up for weeks and tv coverage started at 08:00 in the morning. It was a huge day nationally, yet now the reporting is dire, the traditionalist gone and nobody mentions how historical the competition is. The younger generation will not even get this. Will not understand how we as a second tier club beat the mighty Leeds utd at Wembley.
At that time Leeds were just about the best team in Europe and they were full of class footballers.
Sorry for my rant but we are slowly losing the romanticism and history of this competition to the juggernauts of commercialism and advertising.
I look at the Open (golf) and Wimbledon (tennis) and somehow these competitions stay huge and relevant, but the FA in this country have failed their own cup competition miserably over the years and truthfully I have little faith I them to put anything right as they have been failing the pyramid for years and just seemed to get worse since 1992.
Rant owa!

Cirkin once again unavailable to make a name for himself now Humes suspended and Reinildos injured. Ive said it more than once on here but its time to get rid, next to Alese he literally cant stay fit
Sadly I think you are right. Got a lot of time for Cirks (and Alese) but he can't be relied on. I think the fact there is no new contract being discussed says a lot. Hopefully he can get homself a good move and find a way to stay fit but I don't think it will happen.

As for Alese, I hope he's studying for his coaching badges. Put it that way

I thought there was talking about a new deal being discussed with Cirkin?

I really hope we put our best team on the pitch and forget about handing anyone 'minutes'.

This is serious now and a great chance for us to progress, we can't take chances in my opinion.

My only change would be Moore as I think Port Vale will target our keeper with their tactics ...

... it also wouldn't be great if Ellborg was injured while Roefs recovers.

We've won one derby, this season, so the pressure of that is off, we may still win but there are two more next season. Getting to Wembley in the FA Cup would annoy the Mags, winning it would cripple them. A derby win would hurt them for a few months, Sunderland winning a truly major trophy would hurt them for a decade.

Ha'way the Lads, let's win this game in the first half and move on!!!

Tutierov is on loan at Exeter, isn’t he?

Agree with the sentiment, though. Start with a strong team and hopefully get a comfortable lead, then get the key players off the pitch as soon as we can to limit the chance of pulled hamstrings or twisted ankles on the bog.
