Honestly, me worrying about next season is that I maybe too realistic!

I've not worried much at all this season as it was pretty clear to me early on that we were way better that I thought we ever could be, and wouldn't be getting relegated, so I've just enjoyed it. Maybe the most I've ever enjoyed a season, including the Quinn/Phillips ones. I don't buy into the 'oh we might mess it up like Sunderland always does' thinking as I don't think anyone at the club does. The reason we have 'always messed up' in the past is that we've not been quite good enough over the years. Now we have a chance on that being different. (Wolves collapsing early and there being at least three teams (ten?) worse than use certainly helped too :) )

The 'worry' is that next year is so huge. If our recruitment can be as good as last year then we could be set with enough players for a few years at the top level. But this includes how on earth we replace Xhaka. I think it's his last year next year and we are so much better with him.

So if I trust that we can find the right 3-4 players to come in and replace the one or two sales we will make then I can relax and enjoy again. I just remember what happened when SNQ retired and the all the eggs went in the failed Duncan Ferguson basket. It seemed like that was the only plan, and when it turned into Tores Andre Flo we were doomed. That looked like the extent of the plan back then. We are way smarter than that now, but I would love it if we could keep getting right. That Canadian striker I saw linked (David?) would be amazing, the sort of player we could maybe go after that would really help us build.

I'll be honest now mate I never truly believed in Reid, Quinn, Keane or any of the rest of them ...

... it was all built on mountains of sand.

This is so different it actually frightens me that the club I grew up with has been replaced with something totally different. KLD is laser focussed, brilliantly advised and expertly guided. It's as if we were chosen as an experiment to see how a club could advance if properly managed.

This is so good it's scary.

Right. Never seen anything like it. This is what happens to other teams, not us.

Yes, been going since 65/66 and have never felt as positive about our future. Only problem is I am getting too old to see all of our glory years

This, I see a few people say this is nearly as good as the Reid years.

No its better the Reid years were almost lucky stumbling on a strike partnership that worked etc... always felt like them players go and we struggle and so it proved. The club wasn't professional behind the scenes even for back then.

This is different, its just different class altogether. If I sit and think about all the positive things we see any hear about the club off the pitch and then what we are seeing on it I'm amazed its happening to this club. We have always been a bit of a joke as a club. To be sneered at as the club who doesn't do things properly, who will get their pants taken down when buying or selling players, never doing anything for the long term. And look at us now.

Think we started going 63/64 season, although in those days we were more interested in the players rather than the match! Going to an all girls school we had to get our ‘kicks’ from somewhere. Brian Ushers legs definitely held our attention.

You have to mate, otherwise you'll go through the same process every season.

There's only 9 games left so you've spent almost the entire season worrying and still are.

I stopped thinking about relegation early on when I saw how well we'd bought and how we were playing.

I'm enjoying the cup run and excited about the prospect of the quarter finals ...

... by your reckoning you can only truly enjoy a cup run on the final whistle at Wembley.

That makes it a pretty short season and a miniscule cup run.
Don't misunderstand mate.....I'm enjoying this season immensely....I enjoy watching us play and look forward to every match with optimism. I absolutely love, and am very proud, where we are as a club right now,and I'm extremely optimistic about our future.
However, I don't see that casting a glance over our shoulder as we approach the finishing line is necessarily filling the air with gloom and negativity.

We've always seemed to buy random players and then try to cobble a team together around them.

This time it feels calculated. Like we've picked certain players to build a certain team with a view to growth and it's paying off. It feels more like it's going to last than have the bubble burst and quickly fall as has happened before.
